It's been on my build list for a while, then a buddy gave me an old hood off of a 60's D-6 dozer. I cut it in half legnth wise, had a sheet of 1/8" bent up for the center section, then the ideas started coming. First it was lights, then it was more lights & flashers, then a radio, then a fan, a cab light, a shelf for stuff & a rifle, another storage area and a spot to hold a digging bar for prying implements on/off and all the other good things to do with a pry par.
I'm old enough to know that I'd just bust up a cab with all that glass & mirrors in the woods, that's not to say I wouldn't enjoy a real ac over my fan or a real heater over my insulated bibs! When I was shopping this tractor, I asked how much the glass replacement door cost. OVER $700! That pretty much cemented my decision.
I wanted a 4 post rather than hanging it off just the rear rops, and it is about 65" each way and heavy. I got that dandy 5 switch panel with a 12v outlet on flebay and added an additional 12v outlet next to it. The brackets on the front are for mounting the sweeps or limb risers that will attach to the front bumper/grill guard. I'm using the 2x3 tube, same as the rops & the front posts. They will be removable. The radio is from Jensen & seems pretty tough. The speakers are not much over the tractor noise, but I can plug them into the "work tunes". The 2 front led's are Chineese 27 watt and with the factory headlights and work (side) lights light up the front reguardless of where the loader arms are. The rear led's are also Chineese but 48 watt and do a real nice job out back. The oval rear lights are wired to flash with the factory flashers on the fender, while the "running" light and the icc bar is switched with the 2 amber lights @ the front switched from one of the new switches.
I had all of these lights sitting around except for the 4 led's so I figgured I'd use 'em.
