I thought there was a hand brake on the floor to the left of the seat. There is on the larger models as well as the park position on the gear stick.

Interestingly, my Kubota is the same way, no brake lock.

On the other hand my 30 year old Ford has brake pedal lock and a hand park brake that locks both the front axle and rear axle. Go figure....

Don't ever try to put tractor in that "park" notch with the tractor moving. There is a thread here somewhere about someone that did that and the damage caused. I an't recall the details but it was very expensive.

Correct. You're only options are , throttling back to idle or dropping the bucket and/ or whatever tool you have on the 3PH if you have something on and raised. I wouldn't even try to shift down a gear being afraid to not make it back into a gear.

Most JD utility tractors don't have "true power brakes" in the true sense of the words. The trans pump fills the brake valve but supplies "no pressure"(note the hose clamps) therefore in theory if brake disc pistons don't leak oil one could apply brake pedals many times without engine running and brakes would hold. JD hasn't changed the brake valve design much since the introduction of the 20 series so I wonder why the pedals on some newer models requires pumping? What a long list of models!! If all use the same or similar brakes...what changed??? Never recall hearing any brake or heating issues on the 5xx5 units.

Most north american tractors don't have both hand brake and service brakes. I know larger US built Deere's get a hand brake for export, but domestic market doesn't, just PARK on transmission.

Same here as well, but England built utility tractors. I'm surprised the 5E don't have handbrake. Once you get into larger row crop tractors, park only.

I think they do to save money. Every tractor here has a Park brake except the JD 5065M. They put them in all cars and they weigh a heck of a lot less than most tractors.
