John Deere 2305 Compact Tractor Transmission and rear PTO failure

If anything broke on the Tractor the owner would run screaming back to Deere complaining and have no idea how busted.

PTO, I got a 2210 john deere fron a jd dealer in rochester mn had it about 30 days , hooked up the tiller to do the garden ,it made a teriable noise with out going to the garden, called them ,said no warrenty, so bbb, called jd no help. so I kept calling whoever would listen., they finaly took it back after my wife talked to them, and they lost there dealership, I call em time to time to run it in pooooooor busines.put me on you get even list.

I have the same problem, John Deere has been no help and basically makes the tractor worthless for sale or trade in! Heart breaking issue, I've been raised on Deere and this beats all! Please let me know if anyone has any luck with Deere on this or if anyone knows where i can get a housing to do it myself. (I'm not made of money so I need all the help I can get)

Try and get a hold of your regional john Deere sales representative, your local dealer maybe able to put you in contact with them.
Or check with your home insurance policy. Depending how it happened, you maybe covered.
BTW I know how you feel, gut wrenching.

Wow, to think I was actually thinking of getting a used 2305 or a 2210. Guess those are off my list (and probably JD as well).

I wouldn't stay away from Deere. Happened to me, I still have Deere's in my shop.

Although it's totally plausible the PTO shaft was too long, what's the normal damage to other tractors if this happens? Is it as catistrostrafic?

Just happened to me the first of May. Had the dealer fix it and they where talking to deere. As of now they wont let me pay my bill. I personally know the manager and hope the bill get significant reduced even though the machine is 10 yrs old with only 375 hrs.

I own a 2005 JD 2305, 580 hrs. Today for the first time having issues with NO PTO engagement. This occurred immediately after changing transmission oil and filters. I have checked PTO rear to front lever, main switch, 12.6 volt at coil, with 9 OHMs on coil to solenoid. I cannot hear solenoid engaging. Question can this solenoid possibly be freed by tapping with hammer, heat, or applying a stronger magnetized signal to solenoid? If pulling the solenoid is the only option, how much has to be disassembled?

Any advice?
