DK40SE Squeal When Moving in Reverse.

Coyote,
I missed the new banjo bolt design, is this how kioti configured it please see attached diagram.

Nice block diagram!:D
The old 'green colored' loop is now gone. The attenuator hose is attached as shown, and the old banjo bolt now caps the port on the HST filter housing.
Hope this helps.

Coyote, I reviewed your postings but don't see a picture of the transmission where the hose attaches. I only see pictures of the parts.

You're correct - Sorry about that- caught up in the confusion and didn't realize it wasn't clear how the parts attached, though I did mention, I believe, that the old U-shaped tube was no longer in use. Anyway, please see my answer to your block diagram question which should make the installation clearer. (The area of the tractor where the hose goes is difficult at best to take pics of - there is just too much stuff obscuring good pics).

So I assume Kioti replaced the 90% hard line (green in the diagram) with a flexible hydraulic hose like what was done on my tractor but add the attenuator hose? There still needs to be an hydraulic line between the HST Filter and the HST's pre-charge port.

I updated the diagram to indicate the HST Pre-Charge port location.

Actually, NO. There is only ONE flexible hydraulic line and it goes from the precharge port back toward the rear diff. The green hard line is no longer used.
I will check it again today-just to be sure, but that is what I saw when I inspected it originally.
Thanks for asking.

I was WRONG! They DO still use the U shaped line from the precharge port to the HST filter. I couldn't see it when I first glanced under the tractor.
I had to lie on the ground and look up to see it this time around. Before I just glanced under the tractor and didn't see it between the HST and the filter. Since its grey its sort of hard to see because it blends in with all the other grey stuff under there.

Anyway, the new banjo bolt allows both the old style pre-charge metal, U-shaped tube AND the new flexible rubber hose attenuator to connect to the side of the trans, and everything else stays the same.

Sorry for any confusion, my bad.

To save hauling my dealer delivered the kit for my DK35 yesterday and I installed it this morning.

My kit included the same part numbers as Coyote's for the new banjo bolt and attenuator hose but did not include the cord to attach to the transmission casing. That's fine because I chose to run the hose to the front instead of the rear and it is supported by the structural member for the operator's platform. The hose end rests on the loader mount and below the starter.

I have attached a few photos. The blob taped on the hose is some dense foam padding I wrapped around the hose to protect where it rests on the operator's platform support beam.

It is forecast cool here for the next few days. So I won't know if it fixes the squeal until I get to do some work on some warmer days.

Thanks for your work to obtain this modification Coyote.

kco,
You're welcome!:)
Didn't know the DK-35's were also squealing. Hope this cures yours. I'm confident it will. I've put about 40 hours on since the mod and no noise what so ever! YEAH!!
Post back your results.

I looked back through this thread because I recalled posting that my DK35 did not have the problem. That was June 10 last year when I had 60 hrs on the tractor after receiving it at the end of March. The squeal showed up some time after that. I imagine I noticed it with warmer weather (last year's spring and summer were much cooler than normal) and more sustained work.

I have 290 hours on it now. The "reverse squeal" seems to manifest after an hour or so of heavy work. It even happened briefly during long periods blowing snow this spring.

The squeal was never so bad that I worried much. Strangely, I find it more annoying when I loan the tractor to my neighbour (about 500' away) so he can cut his grass. By then the tractor is good and warm, having mowed my pasture and lawn with the 6' finish mower. I think I notice it more from my neighbour's because his situation demands more working in reverse. Then again, maybe we just notice it more when others make noise. :D

Although covered by warranty, if the fix was complicated and expensive I likely would not have bothered. But it only took a call to my dealer and was simple enough that even I could do it--and that's a true indicator of simplicity.

Like you, I'm confident it will fix the noise. I will report back once I have had a chance to do some sustained work under warmer conditions.

Thanks again for your effort.

It (the squeal) is fixed! I just finished 4 hours of heaving mowing in warm weather which would have previously brought on the reverse squeal. There was not a sign, no matter how much I tried to make it happen.

It's an easy fix (after Coyote did the hard part:) ) and recommended if you are bothered by the squeal.

I have a 2012 DK50SEHST Cab that I got a few weeks ago. I have 36 hours on it and it has been squealing since hour three. I figured this problem would have been fixed since this thread has been out here since 2010 and no more additions since may of this year. Good thing I have an awesome dealer! going to the shop this week.
