My 5' brush hog is about worn out, and I plan to replace it soon. The 3030 handles the 5' hog easily, so I'm thinking of upsizing to a 6' hog. Any advice is appreciated.

Are cutting mostly stemmy weeds or heavy grasses?

It's a mixture really. I occasionally get into some thick bermuda.

Depends on the cutter, it may handle a light duty, but I use a Land Pride RCR2672 with my L5030 and sure wouldn't want to run it on a 3030.

I agree with TripleR. I think he's saying the weight of the attachment would be a load on a B3030. I used a 5' medium duty cutter on my B2910, mostly cutting timber trails. I made a weight rack for the front and carried 300lbs of weight all the time. A medium duty 6' would have been a bit much.

The B3030, like the older model B2910, has great HP to weight ratio. So usually it's not power that limits it's ability, but chassis size/weight.

If you are always cutting on flat ground then go for it. If you are in hills I'd be reluctant.

I run a sq172(6') bushhog behind my L3400 Bota.
I tend at times to buy my implements somewhat oversized for my tractors,in case in future I want to purchase larger tractor.
If it were me I would go with a medium duty 6'-er if it was to be used primarily on flat ground and just on my place.
Remember after first cutting on your own place I find the coming back afters a breeze.
Also if your just using it on your place and you don't have to pick up BH much completely off ground, you could always roll it or bump it with rear tail wheel going over to area your going to cut with pto off.

What ever new BH you do decide to buy remember to check your gearbox oil even if dealer or seller said they did. ;)

It's a large bug that pushes horse excrement around - commonly known as a dung beetle.

Oh! You mean the one in my signature! I guess most folks call them dirt scoops. And I sold mine with my 2N (which I wish I had kept just for nostalgia).

I'd agree with light duty (standard duty) six footer or medium duty five foot bush hog on a B3030. The B is a pretty light tractor and that is part of the equation.
