That's right. The engine was overhauled about 3 years before it was parked in the mid 70s.

one of the on-the-shelf fuel addatives in a can have it in there.. b12 maybee?

Ya it is black beauty sand. Do you think that might work? If not what do you think will? I'd rather avoid using a tumbler to avoid chipping the valves.

If you turn the pressure down on the compressor and stay back you should be able to blast them. I've never done it. Maybe DJ54 can give some more info on doing this. I'm all ears.

Ya I would love to hear more about it. I've never heard of sandblasting valves before.

That's something I never thought of. That might work.

Keep thinking. Maybe a piece of denim might work on the easier stuff.

All of the easy stuff is gone. I tryed a flathead screwdriver to scrape off the carbon on the faces but that didn't even work.
