    Chicken Tractor for Tractors

I used top wind trailer jacks - installed a coupling nut for the handle and use a 18 volt drill to jack the wheels down. Used 4.80/4.00-8 tires on 3/4'' bearings (400 LB load per tire) I can move my chicken tractor by hand on level ground but it takes two move when going up a grade. You could...

Adding remote lift control to york rake

I used a trailer jack and 12 volt cordless drill to make my remote lift control. I took the switch and battery cells out of the cordless drill. Wired the drill to a winch control for up and down action. Installed limit switches to shut off drill at max up and max down. I also added a swing...

    Logsplitter 2.0

I would change the log lift design to one long side, one angle and the base. I think that would give you a better push angle for the log lift. The one long side works well to stage smaller rounds to be split.

    Built two decks this weekend

Deck ledger board attached to house rim joist. Poor flashing details = water damage and rot to the house rim joist. Not much fun to repair. I like the free standing deck method.

    Logsplitter 2.0

For my large rounds I use a slip on wide wedge. It is 9.5 inches wide at the back. It worked well splitting this red oak round. It was wider at the push block end. It does a good job pushing the two chunks of wood apart. Split.

    snow thrower impeller needs repair

I purchased a used snow thrower to go on my cub cadet 582. The impeller was rubbing the housing in one spot when I turned it by hand. When I removed the impeller to get a better look I found the blades deformed. No before picture. The end of the blades were bent back. No weld at the end of...

My 3rd and hopefully last log splitter

This wood splitter is built with a H beam. It is a light weight 6'' x 6'' H beam and you can see the flange has been distorted by the push plate. The wedge end will flex when splitting hard to split wood. When I built my wood splitter I used material I had. The bottom of the beam is 4''...

Hate those 8"wheels, want to replace

I used an old pop-up camper for the frame and axle under my splitter. Install a log lift and you will not need the vertical position.

    Firewood processor build thread

I would attach the hydraulic cylinder rod as close to the back of the pusher plate as possible. If you have the cylinder rod 11'' behind the pusher plate you will need a much stronger guide to keep the force of the hydraulic cylinder from pushing sidways or upwards.

    Firewood processor build thread

I used LOCTITE 545 (non-fouling for Hydraulic Fittings) on all of the IPT joints when I built my log splitter. It worked very well -- no leaks. I would also use a longer suction line and not use the 90 deg. fitting at the pump.

    Logsplitter 2.0

I built my splitter at 35'' for a good working height for me. A large caster is bolted to the fold up jack so I can push it in and out of the shop.

    Logsplitter 2.0

I also made a solid outfeed table. It makes moving the large piece of wood from the first split, of a large round, easy to slide back to the log lift. My wedge is 9'' tall -- should be at least 12'' tall for large wood rounds -- I also made a 4 way slip on wedge.

Anyone built a set of forks for the front of a SCUT?

I made a very small set of clamp on forks. When using the forks I needed to add weight to the 3 point hitch. Could you use forks on the 3 point hitch? How does the 3 point hitch capacity compare with the capacity of the front bucket?

    logsplitter lift

Check out the Log Mule on you tube. It might work for you. I have the hydraulic log lift on my wood splitter and it works very well. A 32 inch oak round on the wood splitter. The log lift makes a good infeed table for small rounds to be split.

Anybody ever try moving a garage?

I moved a 14' x 14' building by jacking it up and put 6'' x 6'' skids under the building. Pulled it over 500 ft. with my 4x4 truck (the ground was frozen) Moved it sideways with 2 more 6 x 6 skids, 2x12 on the ground with 2'' pipe rollers. Used 2 come-a-longs and it pulled very easy.

Converting this Huskee 22 ton log splitter to electric

I used a 5 hp 3450 rpm electric motor with a 16 gpm wood splitter pump on my wood splitter build. It is a Leeson catalog # 120554 - 230 volt - 20.8 Full Load Amp. I used the open drip proof motor because the TEFC electric motors were more money. I also put a cover over the motor and pump. I...

    Clamp on bucket forks

The metal in the forks started life as dock hardware. It is 5/16'' by 2'' flat bar with holes every 8'' that I stacked on each other. Off set the holes so I could plug weld every 4'' and weld at both ends. So far they have worked very well.

Help me design an electric log splitter

I used a 5 HP 230 Volt single phase Leeson electric motor with a 16 gpm pump on my wood splitter. I plug it into a welder outlet and have a 30 amp breaker on the splitter. I have used it for 10 hours and it has worked well. You would need 7.5 HP for the 22 gpm pump.

    Wood splitter hydraulic fluid ?

I used the Prince RD522CCEA5A4B1 2 spool Detent valve. I had to mount it hydraulic ports down to get the detent valve on the right hand side. If your valve has a power beyond port you will be able to connect to the inlet of the second valve for your log lift. I did install a flow restrictor...

    Wood splitter hydraulic fluid ?

The table is 1/8'' metal from the side of an old manure spreader with 3/4'' square tube 1/8'' wall around the outside of the outfeed table. The outfeed table is lower than the woodsplitter beam (about 1/2''). I should be OK if I split with the outside curve of the wood on the beam but I might...

Ideas on how to move a shed...

I moved a 14' x 14' ice house last year. Put two 6 x6 under it for runners - screwed a 2x10 on top of the 6x6 front and back to hold the 6x6 apart. I started with pipe rolls to start - after I got the building on level ground I was able to move it with my truck.
