How do I keep rust out?

My barn is immediately adjacent to a salt water marsh. The barn is reasonably weathertight. I notice that things in the barn - tools hanging on the wall, metal storage cabinets etc seem to rust at an accelerated pace. Is there something I can do inside the barn that slows down the process short...

how do I clean up the grease?

After giving the tractor the once over with the grease gun there are the inevitable overflows at the joints and zerks. This stuff seems impossible to get rid of and becomes a dirt magnet. Does anyone know of a way to clean up in those hard to reach spots. Power washing doesn't do it.

    I KNOW i'm stupid but....

I KNOW i\'m stupid but.... This SHOULD be easy: I noticed a hydraulic leak yesterday. It is at the hose connection at the elbow of the backhoe. It appears to be leaking at the threads of the hose where it fastens to the nipple/adapter/thingamajig (see attached photos) It seems like I just need...

    Backhoe / Trailer Receiver Hitch

I want to have an easy on/off trailer receiver hitch that I can attach to the bucket of my backhoe. I have been directed to a thread here by GuglioLS but in that setup the bucket is replaced with the hitch. There must be a way to weld a flange or something along the side of the bucket so I...

    trailer hitch on backhoe?

I see many ads for trailer hitches on drawbars at the rear but I use the backhoe all the time and don't want to take it off just to move a trailer. We have an enclosed trailer that gets storedin a very tight spot that requires every ounce of my backing up going forward skills when attached to...

mechanical problem - can u diagnose?

I have a B21 with just 225 hours on it. Yesterday I started it up and got about 50 yds down the road then it sputtered out like it ran out of gas. I have 3/4 of a tank. I took the hose off at the gas filter (on the gas tank side of the filter) and cranked the engine. No gas coming out. Does...

    Bent the bucket

The front portion of my 4 in 1 FEL is bent. It dips down in the middle right where it meets the rear portion of the FEL so it won't close entirely. (I KNEW I was picking up too many rocks, too big) I'm sure I can bend it back somehow - pipe clamps - placing it on a rock and raising the tractor...

I wanna chainsaw on a stick

I have lots of tree rimming to do. I'm unable to reach those clumps way out on skinny limbs. I may buy myself a fathers day gift of a chainsaw pole pruner. They don't come cheap @ $600+ but either does my time or my brittle bones when I fall from a 10' ladder. Anybody have experience, feedback...

    utility vehicle..mule..ezgo etc

I'm starting to feel the need for one of those little utility vehicles with a little flatbed in the back. Small, easy access, tight turning radius - just to bring more than a handful of tools and a bag of cement to the other side of the property (uphill) Electric sounds nice. It wouldn't be used...

Where can I get a fence puller?

I want to pull taunt some fence wire. This is 6' high, galvanized wire, probably in a 2"x4" grid. The only fence pullers I have found so far are for heavier chainlink fences. If I try fishing a flatbat vertically thru the fence then pulling the bar - it just breaks the adjacent vertical wire. I...

    Terraced vineyard

I put a similar post in vineyard management practices in rural living but thought it might go here or in photos. Where can I mount a toolbox on a B21?

I've seen boxes mounted on many places but none of them work on a B21 with a backhoe. The only place I see so far is up over my head on the canopy ceiling. But I'm so paranoid of tippng over I keep a low center of gravity and don't want to add any weight topside. I figure it helps my center of...

    Wheelies

My B21 almost always has the backhoe mounted on the rear (where else?) So I guess I've grown use to the balance. Dealer Displeasure

It's been about a week now and I think I've calmed down enough to discuss this... I have just had a very *&^#@$**%!!! experience with my (ex) kubota dealer. I started this in a different thread back in January (a leak in my B21 1/10/01). I bought a new B21 from a Northern California dealer and...

How big of a trailer do I need?

I will be hauling a Kubota B21 tractor a few times a year, just a few miles. With loader, bachoe and loaded tires it weighs 4,400 pounds. I have an opportunity to get a slightly used BigTex 60CH car hauler: GVWR=6,000#, two 3500# Dexter axles w/ electric brakes on one axle. The local dealer says...

    A leak in my B21

I have a new (28 hrs) B21. Having just parked it on the brand new slab I noticed a small puddle under the 4 in 1. I raised the bucket a few inches and put some paper under it to find the leak. The next day the bucket was resting on the slab with the paper wet as shown in the attachment...

How do I cut a road?

I have a hill that is way too steep to be sideways. How do I cut a 6' wide path somewhat parallel to the contours.
