I have no idea what to buy

With that one exception of a lot of steep hills on the lot. I mow 2 acres, not the smoothest, lots of trees, went with a 54" Ariens ZTR, there are still a couple of scary places that were easy with my tractor.

    SURPRISE!

More like $18 with tax. And you don't have to return it; walk in with your drained used filter, swap it out, leave.

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL

Just for fun, have you tried a different engine oil, and perhaps make sure that the oil level is not one millimeter too high?

Can a diesel engine run on gas. .

Do a little research; probably most kerosene-ish fuels have a RON of under 30.

Can a diesel engine run on gas. .

Most diesels are 14:1 and up to 22:1. Remember that "high octane" is the opposite of what you want in a diesel; you want compression ignition. I've started diesels in cold weather with a trickle of gasoline, but running it through the pump is a bad thing.

Wells fargo financial leasing says my new Branson can't be paid off early?? Who does?

This is a very old post, but I have a "zero percent" loan for a different item, and it is to your advantage to not pay it off early, but to pay it off with dollars that are shrinking in value every month.

Wells fargo financial leasing says my new Branson can't be paid off early?? Who does?

Mine allows early payoff, but with no refund, as it was a fake zero interest loan. So I won't pay it off, unless I sell it.

Well today I learned 5 things about post hole augers

I screwed one into clay so deeply that it took two of us, with a 24" pipe wrench and an eight foot cheater, an hour to unscrew it. And it was trash when we were done. Good times ...

If it's not too costly, go for more power. Just because more power.

3-Point Hitch Need advice on top link height with finishing mower

If you mean where a downslope levels out, or turns to an upslope (the bottom of a ditch), that's not uncommon. Sometimes it needs to be raised before hitting those areas.

Right to repair - we WIN!!

They needn't give you anything for free, that's for sure. We used to sell the factory manuals for certain motor vehicles. They cost in the hundreds back in the day, hence the Haynes and Chilton manuals. I bought a service manual for a certain electronic device, and it was over $400. It did come...

    Used Value vs Age

And it will get better every year. My four-year-old cat equipped Mahindra has been faultless for the several hundred hours I've put on it. And it doesn't stink.

    Repo

They have not title, as in the piece of paper that goes with our automobiles and motorcycles. But title is held, when there is a loan. But good if you have no loan; it's when buying from others that we must be wary.

    Repo

But you can bet that a UCC form has been filed in the state of sale, and as such the lender has a perfected lien. And that means that you cannot sell it without satisfying the loan.

Grapple  MTL eBay Inexpensive Root Rake Grapple

Budget and time concerns both prevented me from getting a lighter-weight (and stronger) EA unit, so for under a grand, delivered, I got an MTL 72" dual-lid grapple, in Kubota orange (to set off the Mahindra red) as advertised on eBay. I've played with it for several hours, and have no...

    Tractor roll over video

It was actually quite a common "fender bender" sort of airplane accident; I was flying in very gusty winds, and got a 30-kt crosswind gust upon landing at RZT. It lifted up the left wing, which put the right wingtip onto the runway (slow Cessnas have zero roll authority, I should have come in...

Hydraulic cylinders joined side by side ?

One could always use two small cylinders that equal one larger cylinder, with the larger cylinder in the middle, and the two smaller ones hooked together at the rod ends. Sort of this configuration:

    Backhoe vs Stump Grinder

I've done more than twice that many stumps, including some walnut, some up to 48" the long way, and am still on the first set of cutter teeth. I ended up with many FEL buckets full of free mulch! And if you adjust the slip clutch it won't hurt your PTO (I've "stuck" it a couple of times.)

    What's wrong with this picture?

This is the cover of my Mahindra 2540 manual (and it's quite poorly written; my "day job" is technical publications for a large jet engine manufacturer!) Something odd about that tractor ... (Please forgive the cat hair from the scan!)

Here's a sample UCC form—mine! I got it from Ohio's UCC search page (Ohio UCC Search), most states have them. And after reading this thread, anyone buying anything of any real value needs to check (a guitar, a tractor, whatever.) Note that not only is my tractor listed, but so is the loader...

Are modern solid rubber tires going to make thier way to the tractor World next?

These are available for very light mowers, and experiments with similar "traction units" has been done for cars; when someone gets around to doing so for heavier equipment, I'm in! I've already scraped off a valve stem while in the woods.

What else do you do with forks besides lift pallets?

I used my forks to carry stumps, move pallets, dig small trees, and ... reconfigure my shin.

    Using backhoe as grapple ...

Whilst I save up some bucks for a lightweight EA grapple, I had some brush that needed moving. I've been doing a lot of it by hand, or pushing it with the bucket, or on the forks, but I was destumping the creek bank, and thus had the backhoe attached ... and did a few loads like this. It worked...

    Stump Grinder Woodland Mills WG24?

I bought one, and have used it a lot (though I seemed to find a lot of metal fence bits with it!) I have a shuttle transmission, which is not recommended, but most of my stumps are on slight slopes and I can point the tractor downhill and use the brake to feed the cutter. Otherwise, I can roll...

Swapped Out FEL Valve, Got Grapple Control and FREE Rear Remotes

When I got my tractor in the spring I didn't want to pay the huge price the dealer got for either a third function or rear remotes (totalling about $2,500!) I also didn't really want an electric third function anyway; give me a lever any time! So I looked online and found this valve: 3 SPOOL 25...

    SPEECO or H.Freight Quick Hitch

With a 20% off coupon the HF unit is only eighty bucks. I did some mods to mine, the best was replacing the bolts for the top hook with hitch pins! No tools needed for adjustments, and I can pop off the hook for those "not quite QH compatible" implements.

Oil & Fuel  25 Series Fuel Injection Leak

Anyone else have a fuel leak (spraying from the fitting on the line from the common rail to the injector, at the rail end)? Mine developed one at about 65 hours, and I didn't notice until fuel started spilling on the fan belt! Then I noticed ... It turns out that the #1 fitting is extremely shy...

    Titan Tree Puller

The Titan Tree and post puller is cheap and fun, and is what prompted me to buy a new FEL valve with a grapple spool. I hooked this up temporarily this morning (using the curl/dump valve, I don't have the new valve mounted yet) just to give it a try. It's loads of fun; I ripped out some roots...

Thinking of getting into stump grinding

The spare teeth come in a generic box (I got a dozen extra). I do know that the carbide can generally be had for three bucks per, if you are the sort to braze them onto the teeth, and you can certainly sharpen these a time or two. I'm not gonna use this all the time, but I want it handy for when...

Hydraulic filter locations for Mahindra 25 series?

In particular, the 2540. I want to check the filter/screen before deciding on changing all of that oil (I have the oil, and the filters, at hand, but the oil in the machine appears pristine). I've changed the engine oil (Rotella) at 50 hours, have 55 now.

I found a quick way to flatten a tire ...

While pushing brush piles over a hill with my pallet forks (they were already on the thing; I'm now saving up for a grapple!) I snagged a log with my left front tire valve, and immediately snapped the thing off. Hisssssss ... followed by a [literal] sinking feeling. It likely wouldn't have...

Changing ALL of the transmission/hydraulic oil ...

I have a new Mahindra 2540, which is coming up on the fifty hour mark, thus due for some fluid changes. I didn't think of this on my previous tractor, but I have now, so I'll ask everyone: I have a loader, a backhoe, and a couple of skid steer attachments with hydraulics, and they all have...
