    Hornets --- OH NUTS!!

I went up to my old garage today and this is what I found over the garage door. These are large lamp post hold down nuts that I had painted "OH", in front of. --- Guess I'll have to be a little more careful going in now.

    New-fangled Old-timey slip scraper

I'm sure that many of the younger and non farm folks won't know what a slip scraper is, but it is the way dirt was moved with horses before tractors, scrapers, loaders, dozers etc. were invented. You can google it and see more of the real thing. I have a real one at home in NY that I used...

Solution to Ford 2n/9n lower lift arms leaking ???

This thread is in reference to a question I posted last fall -http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/parts-repairs/372850-ford-2n-lift-arms-leaking.html?highlight=#post4629378 , I finally found time to get working on my 2n lift arms to repair the leaks. When I found out that the rear end has to be...

    Ford 2n lift arms leaking

I just started to yank my 2n apart to repair/replace the lift arm pins and in studying out the various threads on this project, got thinking about this; If I welded an ear on the self locking nut inside the trumpet, to stop it from spinning, I should be able to tighten it with the outside nut if...

corrugated plastic culvert pipe for well??

Does anyone have any information on using the black polyethylene culvert pipe for drinking water wells? I can find no information on the net. I also have green PVC sewer pipe that the manufacturer say is the same as the water pipes except for the color, but is not certified for that use...

Snow Equipment Owning/Operating  questions on plowing with pusher wings

I installed a 3 1/2 foot straight wing (box, scoop??) only on the left side of my plow tractor blade, as all of my snow is pushed over a bank on the right side of my 350 ft driveway. It worked fine and carries snow out to 8-10 ft ahead of blade before spilling over too much. I hinged the wing...

Velcro & Vinyl cab for Max

I've wanted to enclose Max for 3 years now and finally got to it. I had a full cage to start with so decided to just put velcro tape on the insides of the frame and cut vinyl panels to fit. I had both self sticking and sew on velcro tape and after much research and suggestions from members on...

    adhesive advice needed

I'm going to enclose my tractor Max, using clear vinyl sheeting except for a glass windshield. I already have a full cage and want to glue velcro to the painted metal frame and to the vinyl sheeting. Can also sew the velcro to the vinyl if necessary. The rolls of velcro have what appears to...

Quick and easy mount forks on plow blade

I needed to move some pallets and had already put the blower on the back of Max. I've been thinking about making brackets to mount my 3 pt hitch forks on the plow blade, got looking at it and thought for a fast and dirty job, chain will do the same as brackets. Here's the results. The long...

    pull behind 2 stage blowers

Just for ideas, I saw several of these pull behind 2 stage blowers in Montreal last week. Although one was clearing the parking lane on one street, I assume they're meant for driveway clearing where you back up to the garage, drop the little blade, pull ahead far enough to get the blower...

    Counterweight with trailer hitch

Just thought I'd post this for those needing rear counterweights. I saw a CUT with loader going down the road today with a counterweight about 2 ft long and 2 ft square, cast onto a 3 pt drawbar with top link AND a trailer hitch sticking out the back. I thought it was a pretty neat idea and...

    mulch with old carpeting

There's some great ideas in cpenn's thread on the plastic mulch layer but I have no need for anything on that scale. I've had good luck using old carpet for walkways between the rows and around trees/shrubs etc. if properly laid, it will direct the water toward the plants and keep all weeds...

great place for bearings, sprockets, belts, etc

UCP207-22 Pillow Block Bearing I purchased a 1" pillow block bearings USA made for $7.69 and a 1" bore, 14 tooth, # 60 sprocket for $12 and change. TS wanted that much just for the weld on hub. Service was great and shipping low. They have a 100% feedback rating on ebay.

    Dodge/Western/Fischer plow/steering pump conversion

I bought a Dodge plow truck that supposedly had a "slight" leak in the lift pump. That slight leak turned out to be a quart in 5 minutes. It's a good thing I chained the plow up to drive it the 15 miles home. I found they had pried against the pump body to tighten the belt, distorted the side...

    Temporary cheap gin poles

There's a couple threads going about truck mounted gin poles and I didn't want to butt in to those, so started this one. A truck mounted one is great if you have use for it, but if you just need a temporary set up for a building, there's a cheap easy way. When we built my single story house...

Max the snow beast is finished

Max acquired his name because he looks like something out of the movie, Mad Max -- The Road Warrior. He was a right of way mower for a Mass. power co that I bought at auction. He is a Massey Ferguson 399, 100hp, 4wd. with the full skid pan, forestry package and 50 ton winch up front...

Need PTO expertise-mount blower on front

I'm in the process of installing an 8 ft snowblower on the front of my Massey Ferguson 399 and have run in to something I don't have much experience with, short PTO shafts. If you can see it in the photo, the output shaft of the reverser on the front of the tractor, is about 7 inches higher...

IH 3150 U snowblower for lowboy???

I have a front mount IH3150 U snowblower. It was on an A model, but is white so looks like it might be for a later model possibly a lowboy? I'm trying to find out what size the PTO drive pulley was. The driven pulley is 6 inch. The blower itself is about 5 ft wide with little wings sticking...

Snowblower  5 ft IH front mounted snowblower gearing

I aquired an IH 60 " front mount blower, that was on a Farmall A. Unfortunately, the PTO drive pulley was not with it and no one knows what it takes. The driven pulley is 6". The blower has IH decals and is a single stage with an auger that feeds the snow to the center, before throwing it...

    diy dual tractor mounted snowblowers

I just ran across your discussion in customization forum," V plow dual snowblowers" and wondered if anyone with a smaller budget, has mounted a couple used garden tractor snowblower heads on a small farm tractor instead of spending $1500 + on a commercial unit for driveway clearing. I've been...
