Chains Snowblowing the trail, up the hill, with chains on all four tires

ANYTHING that rides up on top of the rubber is a LOT better than nothing. Makes for a rougher ride but at tractor speeds thats not such a big deal, just let some air out if they aren't loaded.....

Congrats Allan-you got a great deal :D I am sure you will have them a lifetime. I don't doubt my chains from Tire Chains by TireChains.com in PA are made in China.

I would leave the tire pressure alone-set the PSI to whatever is reccomended in your manual.

I have found the easiest way to put chains on is to lay the leading edges of chain out on top of the tire and then attached the ends of the chain together with a bunjie cord stretched out across the tire.

You then drive forward until it's as far around as it will go without falling off. Adjust the links so they are as evenly spaced around the tractor as possible. Clamp the chains togeher and the bunjie cord the outside of the chains together so they don't slip off. Your then good to go;)

Hey guys,
Ijust installed the chains on my rear ags. They look decent, looks like good clearance.Igot them nice and tight, but i noticed a large gap of missing cross links where they hook togeather,so i added two crosslinks to fill the void.Has anyone ever done this?Just seemed like a place missing would make the tire spin there. Also there is just an s hook on the back of the tirewhere they hook. Its super tight.Idont need to bend it over right? It would make it hard to remove the chains in the spring.

I have said it before and I will say it again. " Anyone who has real snow to move needs chains on all 4 wheels." We re supposed to get 12" tonight. I keep chains on all 4 on my Kubota B7100. Chains on all 4 on my 1953 Dodge Power Wagon. I just came in from putting chains on my 4x4 Chevy pickup. This will be the first chance to try out the 3ph snowblower I bought this fall.

Yes, that is what Egon was referring to. I recall adding a spare cross link to my rear chains last year. I used a vise, a rail spike and a small sledge hammer in order to get it on. After a lot of swearing and sweating I did get it on.

I think you will find the chain will loosen up over time if you don't hook the S hook to the other side. I do with my front chains. The rear chains use a differefnt type of clasp to hold the ends of the chain togther.

WE HIT PAYDIRT!!28 inches of snow overnight. The chains make all the difference in the world. It would have taken me 5 hours easy to clean up after this monster with a walk behind blower.40 minutes with the blower on the KUBOTA,and i was in the house having coffee:D.Ieven blew snow up my steepest grade ,which i never could without the chains, never slipped a bit.Now if i could only get my charging system working :( Thanks NORTHLAND,and others for putting the idea in my head.

Alan-I am glad the chains have worked out so well for you and that you got the 28" of snow and not me ;)
