Just for the heck of it, I just called a local Mahindra dealer for a price. A new Mahindra 3550 with rear remotes, HST, 2700LB Loader capacity is 30,456 delivered to my door

his web site states 170 hrs, geared transmission. Which would be fine if it has a lever that lets you go from forward to reverse without having to move the gear shift. I need to call and ask about this

I think you will find it has a shuttle shift, which is what I have on my 2012 MX 5100. I absolutely love mine, just be sure to add a lot of weight to the rear end...View attachment 531736

Less power in both the engine and at the PTO than the MX BUT ... it has a warranty.

One other thing that might be considered ... The Mahindra 3550 started production in 2015 so it has tier 4 smog.

And just for the heck of it, you should call and get a price on a new MX and a new M5660. (closest two in comparison).

For my money....I'd take a few hundred hours on a kubota to save 8 grand over a new mahindra:2cents:

true on the warranty, but a warranty cost.
The Mahindra has some EPA smog stuff, but no DPF.
Probably for the cost difference , I could add a 3rd function and buy a grapple for the Bota

he says it's not actually a shuttle shift. It's a lever that lets you change directions without changing the gear ranges, but you still use the clutch.

I'm gonna try to go look at the HST tomorrow. I think that's the way I'm leaning now. Never thought about HST being a good thing, but now after thinking about my upcoming knee surgery this Friday. HST just might be the way to go

LD, didn't you say the MX5100 was a heavier tractor than the L5040 ? I just looked up the specs for both

L5040..3,902lbs - 4,233lbs

3PT Lift capacity..3,860 lbs

Loader...LA844

MX5100..3,369-3,774 LBS

3PT Lift cap.....2,866 LBS

Loader... LA844

Am I missing something ?

Guess I need to look up loader specs for the two loaders .

No. MX and L are same tractor, the L is a deluxe....and I think a little higher 3ph rating.

But same tractor, same loader.

The M is a heavier tractor and stronger loader

OK, my bad. Thanks, On the pics. he posted, (M5040) I can't make out the loader # It does have mechanical shuttle shift, and dual rear remotes.. 691 hrs for 23,900. Double the hours of the others.
