I'm looking for a good corn planter. I'd love a JANG, but don't know if it's worth the premium
How much corn you planting? I use one of these, have had it for years, and I can plant more corn than you can eat in your lifetime in a half hour with it.

we started our tomatoes this morning.
Planted 300 with target of 200 plants to make it to the garden in 8 or so weeks once the snow melts and frost risk fades.
We still have snow on the ground and frost has the ground frozen down at least 5 feet still

You may laugh but this is my go to, to plant sweet corn, and I have a garden way, planter for my David Bradley and a Brinly. Dad bought it from Sears in 1954 (the same year I was born), along with his David Bradley 2-wheel garden tractor and host of implements. From 1959 when he bought a Farmall A to enlarge the garden and other chores, this corn jobber planted 6 lbs. of sweet corn every year until 1988, the year he retired, and didn't plant any sweet corn after that, just a dozen tomatoes to eat on.

I pulled it out about 5-6 years ago after moving back to the homeplace to plant several patches. Sprayed it down with some graphite lube and worked it a bit, then added more and let it dry until later that day. I've tried the garden way, the DB planter, and Brinly which work OK, but this does better, and a lot easier to clean out when done. I've been to a LOT of auctions, flea markets, and yard sales over the years but have never seen another one like it. I bought a couple different style jobbers but none work like this one.

Unless you buy cheaper seed that comes from the end of the cob and get smaller kernels, it still drops 2 kernels per hill, as always. Never minded the extra one in case one didn't germinate. I'll be getting it out here in about a month and a half to put out some small 4 row blocks, about every 10-14 days. The Silver Queen I plant will produce and hold for about that long. Really prefer the Silver King as it is less susceptible to corn smut. This will be the true test for spraying with the Peppermint extract, because the last 2 years I grew it, the Deer would riddle the patch. Time will tell.

Plannig 1500-2000 stalks

I can plant a couple pounds of corn in a half an hour after I have the seedbed prepped.

A pound of corn consists of approximately 1,300 kernels.
