5055e with MX7?

I got the older style 5055E. I pull a 6' Bush Hog and mow stuff way over the hood and it does not even know the cutter is back there. I think a 7' will be fine. I will say a lot of people say your better off to stay with a 6' or skip to an 8' because there is a lot of blade to spin with a 7' in general. A 5055E, 5065E, and 5075E is the same identical tractor just the others have more hp. The E series is a very beefy built tractor frame wise for this day and age.

I went to the John Deere website. They have upped the horse power on the 5055e to 61.

We are power hungry consumers!!!!

As fieldman12 mentioned, the tractors are basically the same, just adjust HP to get the different models in a limited range. This is very common with most manufacturers. Everyone is selling HP.

Would anyone happen to know the difference in price of similarly equipped 5055E, 5065E and 5075E tractors? And are they truly the same tractor, tire size, chassis size, Wheel Base, etc.?

My curiosity is how much does it cost to buy 1 horsepower??

For example, using Kubota, difference between the M6060 and M7060.

M6060 base tractor is 63HP at $33,327 MSRP
M7060 base tractor is 71HP at $35,162 MSRP

With the M7060 you gain 8HP for $1835. That's $229.38 per HP.

Buyer must make a crucial decision concerning how badly that 8HP is needed. Each user's consideration is going to be different.

Curious what other buyers/shoppers have discovered?

Thats a bargain, considering the first 63 HP are costing $529/per

Yep. And realize that's Internet MSRP.

But that $529 is buying a tractor and all it's components. All the $229 is buying is 1 horsepower. :)

When I bought my M9540 I couldn't find an M8540 equipped like I needed so it wasn't an option for me. But generally, if you use the tractor hard, the larger engine size in the same chassis is a bargain. If not, then it's money spent that could have purchased something else.

I was just curious what others had found when shopping.

Visited JD website.

5055E base tractor 59HP $22,207
5065E base tractor 67HP $24,836. $328.62 per HP
5075E base tractor 73HP $27,203. $394.50 per HP

$356.86 per HP if jumping from 5055 to 5075.

I was thinking about the 5055e. Do you think I should go with the 5075e? I will be using it for pulling out small logs in the woods as well as bush hogging.

You are the buyer I was referring to in my cost per HP discussion. Only you can decide whether that cost per HP is a good value. And that is going to be dependent on your intended use.

My Kubota model came in 2 HP sizes, 10HP apart. At the time the cost was $195 per HP. I ended up with the larger HP tractor because I couldn't find one in the lesser HP model. The additional 10HP is rarely used. I overpaid for that power.

On the flip side, it was less than a 5% increase in total tractor price. Hmmmmm...... :)

I would also review both tractors and look for any other changes between those models. Tire size, adjustable wheels, overall tractor weight, etc. Get right down to the last detail in regards to what you are buying for the price difference between those models.

Let us know your decision. :)
