Thanks Lawman, big difference. I think there's a big difference in price too. I have been quoted 14k with a FEL locally (lowest price yet) for a 790. Any Ideas on a fair price of the 990?

Don't qoute me, but I believe the base modeled prices of the 990 FWD run around 16k. But you may be able to pick up one for less than that, if they have been sitting on the lot for a while. Go to your local dealer, and they can search a nationwide database for what dealer has one in stock. It can then, be shipped to your local dealer where you live.

Will do. I see the 990 has a collar shift. Any feedback on these setups? I presume it is less crunchy shifting but how about how it holds up? Anybody been complaining?

Thanks

I havn't heard anybody complaing about that. I have heard about some clutch problems in the past, but that may be due to someone riding the clutch pedal when using the FEL or another implement.

Sorry, I bought the 790 but like you said the 990 was also not to be seen at the dealers I visited???

It seems the 790 is much more popular, I see plenty of people with the 790 on the forums but not too many 990 owners.

At the Deere site they are around 16,00 for a 4wd dual scv model. Try it here.

Nah, that's what I was saying in my first post regarding getting advice here. I got loads of good info. and then spent a couple of days looking at diff. models that the feedback I got here suggested I look at.

Once I got a price I knew it was pretty decent based on what others had indicated.

P.S. I also now have a library of tractor and implement brochures from my search, JD, Kubota, Kioti, Century, NH, MF Agco, Bush hog, Mid West, Agri Fab, etc I got em' all /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
