Re: Apple Ignorant/catapult

My wife used to watch the TV show, Northern Exposure. It was occassionally funny & definitely wierd. In one episode one of the characters wanted to fling a cow, but was talked into a piano instead. They built a catapault & actually launched an upright piano several yards into a lake. It was a kick to watch.

Are you people saying there are websites with photos of catapaults?

Re: Apple Ignorant/Pyrotechjnics

Tdog, when i was a kid there was an old broken down apple tree at an old homesite on the side of a hill up from our house. you could se the outline of the old foundation and easter lillies were growing wild in the old flower beds. anyway, this old apple tree made loads of apples every year, they were about the size of tennis balls and so sour that they would make a pig squeal. But they sure made grat apple pies and turnovers {"fritters"} Find an old wooden barrell and make some apple wine!!

Re: Apple Ignorant/Pyrotechjnics

Once you make the wine, if you live in a cold area, leave it out in the winter to freeze. If you first put a length of tubing running into the middle of the barrel you will later be able to drain off some applejack - the alcohol doesn't freeze ...

Tdog,

YES! on the catapult/trebuchet photo-sites. Don't have any saved addresses to give you, but they're definitely out-there, ...do a search, and follow all the links, you'll find 'em!! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Good luck!

Re: Apple Ignorant/catapult

Never catapulted apples before but with a friend built a giant slingshot in a forked tree when a senior in high school (It was OK and N O R M A L we were physics students) Took a block and tackle to pull it back against the home made bungee cords made from strips of truck innertubes. (cutting to chase) "Those cows must be over two hundred yards away, we couldn't hit 'em could we?" "Nah, lets pull her way back and elevate 45 degrees and see what this baby will max out at." Projectile was a several pound rock (smaller than a bowling ball). Luckily it was just a few near misses as it came down in the middle of the herd, kicked up some debris, and bounced along to finally stop with no noticibly injured stock. WHEW!!

It was for SCIENCE.
