I understand EA's frustration because every time there is a "what box blade should I buy" thread someone will come up with a pound per foot formula where their current models fall short by about 50 lbs. The reasoning is that it will skip more than the Mascot at a gay pride parade.

If he doesn't shave some off, it is going to be heavier than the Gannon.

NOW YOUR TALKIN!!!! Don't let him!

I hope he bought this for his next tractor because if he fills it with wet material he could easily exceed the lift capacity of his tractor.
With a box blade, you don't lift the material in the box, so you won't be lifting any more than the box blade (minus some wet sticky soil). When you lift it, all the soil stays on the ground, it sounds like your thinking more of a dirt scoop?

The Gannon is nice, my tractor would handle it but do I need to spend three times the price?
You mean like you did with your heavy duty 3696 landscape rake? How come you didn't just go with a lighter duty model? I'm sure you could get by with one. :confused3:

Here is THE BEAST so far.

The 96" is projected to weigh 1,900 pounds.
44" depth, 30" tall back.
Front tube is 6x6 3/8" tubing.
Category 2 and 3 Quick Attach Compatible Hitch.
Hitch and sides are 1/2" thick.
Mold boards consist of two 3/8" thick plates.
Cutting edges are 5/8"x8" viper blades...US made and largest in the industry.
Shanks are 1" thick x 4" wide and built in house. Weld on tips made from AR400

This blade will have fixed shanks. He will develop future models with retractable shanks and floating tailgate. He is starting with the biggest and baddest and will fill the gap later.
Here are some drawings. What do you think?

I'm quite aware of the difference between a dirt scoop and a box blade. Obviously you have never had to unclog a jammed box blade with clayed up sod or you wouldn't make that statement. I'm sure its the perfect box blade for his tractor. It's good and heavy. Hey, it is a Gannon!

I didn't buy the rake based on weight per foot silly, it was over all construction and features. Cat II QH compatible and large offset being features most don't offer. But hey, what do I know, I bought a box blade when what I really needed was a dirt scoop! They are going to cancel my Mensa membership for sure......

Questions,

Why the braces on the top inside edges? They sure are not needed.

Shouldn't you be using a tower similar to the Gannon? :confused3: What you have shown collects material and holds it in, and again bracing that should not be required.

So for this BEAST, What is the projected cost? You may have to lighten it up a bit to cut some costs. ;)

Tell Ted to figure up a price on the prototype. I still need a box blade for my T5050. I think the beast will be a good fit. I am a NC native and business owner I would like to support another NC based company if the price is right. I can even pick it up to save some cost if need be. Pm me a price.

Thanks,
