Well took off the chain and everything is free, smooth and balanced. I believe my problem is cra**y quality control. There is a plate welded to the end of the auger that the driven sprocket bolts to with no room for play. I have 3/16 runout side to side and 3/16 runout in and out. It seems more likely that the block was welded wrong vs a bent spocket at this point. Unit is brand spanking new bought from messicks, but they are 2 hrs away. I hope this doesnt turn into a nightmare. Messicks has been outstanding so far. Im going to record it and send them an email monday morning i guess. :(

That's a shame...Woods has always had such a good reputation (I have one of their chipper/shredders).
Messicks will take care of you...good folks there.

I guess you haven't had a chance to determine if there any issue with functionality of the blower?

Nope, just driveway testing. And yes I am as shocked as you, I own a few woods products and they have been great. Messicks has been great so far but unfortunatly I see this being a pita either way as it looks like imo that a new auger assembly will be needed. Im wondering if woods warranty will go through my local dealer since they are only about 10 minutes away.

I would definetly chat with Neil Messick
about this as there is no cure period.

Time spent int he operating theatre to
remove the ill functioning organ and
install a new replacement auger is the
only cure but not on your dime as they
should have powered up the snow clearer
before they loaded it on the truck for
delivery to you!!

If the snow caster is used the side
stresses created by the crappy welding
and alignment job or non alignment job
(who ever weld the the sprocket to the
cross auger did not care and was not
interested- whoever assembled the
roller chain is in the same category as they
would have had a problem splicing the chain
and do not let them tell you that the snow clearer
is fine and needs to wear in which is BOGUS!!!

Otherwise you will be buying a lot of chain and master
links when none should be required for a properly aligned
driven part like an auger of any type.

Send Neil Messick a nice PM through the forum
and or the Messick home page and explain the
runout of the driven cross auger sprocket is
not true to the center line of the driven sprocket
and the roller chain is binding through the roller
chain connecting straps and you would like a
replacement snow clearer as you have no idea
how long it would take to recieve a replacement
cross auger and install it in their shop or have it
sent back to Woods and then back to you.

Its too bad this happened, there is no excuse, and it
does not help you in any case especially with the
snow season upon us.

Is that a stamped or cast wheel?

Roy... I bet it's stamped. Mine was....I had one a few years ago and traded it on the Lucknow I have now. I had no wobble problem and I suspect Woods will make it good.

My Lucknow is much heavier material wise than the Woods.

I hope so...but I wouldn't be overly surprised if Woods says it's within spec.
I think arsenix2001 should contact Messick's and let them handle the warranty aspect.
