I remember 20 yrs ago or so, a Crane operator telling me, he used a chain rig on the top where the Turnbuckle is.
He said it made his bushhog ride up and down with his rollie pollie unflat pasture.
I didnt own my lil farm yet, so i paid 1/2 attention to what he was saying, SHAME on ME!
My pastures arent flat at all either.
Can anyone steer me with something you use to compensate this problem.
Thanks so much for ur help here!
Terry

Here are a couple of different ways chain is used but most cutters have the flex built into them to allow up and down of the tail. Notice the swivel at the top in the first picture that allows the tail to go up and down. There are many different configurations that allow this movement. Depends on manufacturer.

Thanks so much Winston!
My woods finish mower has the extras on the toplink to compensate.
My woods bushhog does not.
Can u shoot me another picture, of the chain connected to to top link.
Its really fuzzy, ans I'd like to see exactly, what ur setup is!!!
Thanks very much, for ur input!!!
This really helps!

You are on the right path. A chain works very well.

Got any pictures of the cutter you have?

Some of them are easier (make more sense) to use a chain for the toplink
Some are quite simple to modify the cutter itself for flex
And some are already made to flex but some people just hook up incorrectly

Here is my Woods finsh mower.
I have the same issues with this!
It does have the added chains, so I presume I'm not hooking up correctly, also!
Pulling it out of storage, so I stuck a stick across to hold the chain keepers.
Thanks for UR help!
It's getting to be mowing time!20200524_162923.jpg
