Ok guys, fairly new to this forum, been reading a while but signed up today. Be nice to an old guy with more arthritis than he needs!!

BX25 would not start, single digits are fairly rare in Northern Virginia.....and I'm an old generator guy! The fuel lines gelled pretty good, and I get the info on this forum is to replace the filters, no biggie, can do.

Where is the fuel petcock on the BX25D I see in the previous posts? If I take down the skid plate, I can pinch the line off, but if there is a petcock it sure would make that easier.

Sure would make my life easier if someone can tell me how to find it. If it is more trouble than it is worth, pinching the lines off it is!

I appreciate this forum (and forums like turbodieselregister for my truck) I am completely convinced that half the problems today stem from folks who will not do anything for themselves!

Thanks a bunch,

George

Unless someone has installed a fuel shutoff, then there is none.
It sure would have been nice of Kubota had seen fit to install one, but they didn't.
But since your going to be under there and working on that fuel line, now would be the time to install a fuel shut off valve. Unless your are working out side, then a warmer day would be a better time to do that little job.:)

:welcome: George... I think you are right on about some of our societal problems stemming from the diminishing number of DIYers! As far as a petcock... haven't seen one on mine and know folks do generally just pinch the line.

Thanks a bunch, guys!!

I was reading some previous threads, and thought I saw there was one, need to get my glasses adjusted!

You're right, Beckmurph, come June, it'll be a good project, but laying on a tarp in the snow........pinching off it is!

Thanks for the replies, guys, it's much appreciated!

George,
I've got a BX-25 and use this trick when I'm swapping out the fuel filters. Remove the fuel cap and place a plastic bag or sheet of plastic over the opening. Then replace the fuel cap, tightening it down on the plastic. The plactic will block air flow to the tank, reducing your diesel spill. This is plumbing 101, air moves liquid.
Attached is a pic showing two Kubota fuel caps and their vents.
In the future treat your diesel with Power Service from Napa for the winter.
The weather is a-changing.

That's a trick we all learned as kids when we would put a finger over a straw to hold liquid drinks inside of the straw and then lift it and let it flow into our mouths. Same principle, universally applied in many ways. Good tip George!

Which is worse, not putting a valve on the tank or an operators manual that shows one but in reality there isn't a valve. The you get to wondering if all is right with the equipment. My Ferris mower is like that, book says it has one, but it doesn't. Kind of like my 72" King Kutter tiller that I posted in another thread, the slip clutch doesn't have external tension springs although the OEM goes into great detail on how to set the tension and even shows the springs on the slip clutch just like all others have. I had to make a special trip to the dealer to find out that KK has a new type PTO slip clutch with an internal tension spring that they only put on 72 & 84" tillers at the present time and are easily identified as being painted black rather than the yellow for the old type. No mention of this in the manual either.

First I would like to really thank everyone for their replies and advice. I thought it would be a snap to remove the skid plate and pinch the lines, but the guy who put it on must have really loved his job!!!! I will remove it when warm weather hits and I do not have to lay in the snow!

Thanks AStanton, while that is certainly a trick I'm familiar with, it came in real handy, I be I didn't lose a pint of diesel! The tractor has been used for the last two days for an hour or so each day and runs just fine now that I treated the fuel and added a bit of kerosene to it.

I cut the filter open today, and it was gelled up pretty danged good. I am NOT impressed with the filter, and most certainly see the better filter in the future as well..........when it gets WARMER!

Thanks again, I'll see if I can post the picture without messing it up!

I hope the picture comes out, but this is what I found:

I'm glad that it worked out for you.
Spring is coming; I've been seeing Robins.

Just reading back through this thread and wanted to make sure you knew there are two of those filters on the BX. Judging from the crud in the one you pictured I'd want to get the other one changed sooner than later.
