New cutting teeth were a big improvement in the hard soil. I had also watered the holes to soften them.

Remaining side is just as level. We had to flip the 6 x 6 x 24 to remove a bad bow and get a good side to work with.

I have more bags of concrete to add to finish up the base.
Oldest son was a big help on his day off.

Thanks for the updates, glad to see you’re moving forward with your projects. Will you be installing the carport or having a company erect it? I’ve considered adding a carport on my property, your 6x6 base may be the way I eventually do mine.

I will have them install it. Seems like all of the companies include free freight and installation. 25’ panels can be a lot to handle if there is any wind. I have installed 25’ panels on my lean to we built and it was hard to not bend them.

I don’t know if I pointed out that I used Galvanized lag bolts, not Zinc in the treated wood.

Dropped another 16 tons of gravel for the carport base. I let it sit with the clay I brought in for a few months. The carport should be there in January. It will be 18x26x8. This gives me a center height of 11’3”.

Original 4 x 6 posts were attached to a sunsail. When we had a 40-60 mph
Storm they moved. I had them in about 2’ with concrete but the ground was softer than I thought. New 6 x 6 posts are over 3’ with more concrete. They should never move!

When I showed my 3 sons what 64 year old dad had done, the reply was you had a tractor. I explained I had to stand them up straight to hook up the sling and they were heavy treated and wet. I am not sure they always appreciate my projects. 😀 One day they will. My 90 year old dad does.

18 x 25 carport installed. They built it like they were fine furniture craftsmen. Maybe a slight exaggeration. They did take great pains to keep everything square and level. Super organized and in 2.5 hours they were complete.

I used 1/2 x 6.5 galvanized screws to go into the treated 6 x 6 base.

I am trying to figure out how to get a pontoon in there as well. Both pictures have the trailer in the same position. I may swing the cargo trailer perpendicular.
