I took your advice MikePA and test drove a 1500 Silverado at lunch. Really, really nice riding truck! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif And only 1 or 2 mpg less than the V6 in the S-10. I like the visibility that sloping S-10 hood gives me, but the bigger truck is really nice! Thanks for the suggestion!

Now the only problem is the price difference. I found a basic work truck 1500 with 12k miles on it for $22k. With the rebate, a basic S-10 would be $17k. Big bucks either way.

Just bought a 2003 model new, and love it. Got it based on a friend of mine's recommendation who loves his. GM is offering great rebates to move out the 2003 model year inventory, and I ended up getting about $6500 off list all told.

With a 1300 lb payload this will do what I need it to for the foreseeable future.

I had a 1986 S-10 V-6,I have a C-1500 with the V-6 and the S-10 was a lot quicker,same motor less truck to move with the S-10.

Does your K-1500 have a V-8.

You gotta be PC... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
It's a 5.7 litre V8.
Best gas engine for production vehicles ever made.

I just bog't a 2003 GMC Sierra full size, extended cab, 2WD with 5.3 V8. The sticker was about $31K and I paid about $23K net of the $4500 of rebates I got.

Its a nice truck, rides and drives great. I am having a little difficulty getting used to the seat position, but it is getting more comfortable (I drive 120 miles a day).

My mileage so far, mostly highway, has ranged from 17.9 to 19.7, not a whole lot less than a compact truck would get. And I think the resale will be much better on the full-sized truck.

The people I know who have owned S-10s have not had a lot of trouble with them and some have put lots of miles on them. For me, I like a bigger truck myself. If they got 30mpg or something like that I'd have to consider it, but they don't.
