Not just Cummins???

Current case is just Cummins. Cummins was involved in the 1998 settlement of 7 different engine manufacturers. Part of the 1998 settlement was that Cummins would reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 2025. Maybe somebody at Cummins thought they could slip one by the EPA to meet their 2025 goal.

It will be interesting to see how the money is spent. Part of the 2016 Volkswagen settlement was Volkswagen built the Electrify America EV charging stations.

Yes, I'm wondering the same thing. It looks like there is a lot of push/pull with the EPA on carbon points etc. Maybe if cummins builds more solar and windmills (like they have), they get more points for being carbon neutral.

One has to wonder, did they not think this through? It was a risky idea to provide those options on a diesel truck, and apparently with no real secrecy....
That is a chunk of change to lose for nothing in return......dang
