John Deere 300B
I’ve got a John Deere 300B loader and backhoe (SN:049234T.. I think). The steering housing cracked and dumps fluid. I have talked to the local Deere dealer and he says it’s obsolete; they can’t get one and I’ve had no luck finding one online; from the reading I had done, it looked like the steering column off a 2 thousand series (PN:AL31262) might work, so I ordered one. I received the column and the outside is nearly the same, same length and bottom bolt pattern; however the internal diameter and piston rod is smaller than the original, but the connecting rod is slightly too big to fit in the steering shaft. I can’t see any reason it wouldn’t work if I made the rod fit to the shaft, or swapped rods. I just hate to go beating or grinding on a new part if it isn’t going to work. Any thoughts/input would be really appreciated.

I find it difficult that steering valve housing for your tractor is unavailable in both new & used version. JDParts.com shows RE10800 @ $1415.86. I would think tractor salvage yards would have a very good supply of PS housings. All-States has that part listed.

The one from All-States is the one I purchased. The part number for just the housing (I found on JDParts) is AT41310/SUB AT72460 and listed for $3200 which is what I have had no luck finding. That RE10800 says it fits a construction and industrial 300; not sure what the difference between 300 & 300B is. I appreciate the help

What's the casting # on your All-States valve housing? 300B is just a similar size to 300 tractor but later manufacture dates. Model 300B has a serial break on steering valve housing. The dog bone shaped part(item 12) fits 37 other models but not a model 300

There isn’t a number on the All-State housing; the number on the original is T82325. Not sure what the serial break means.. were there different styles with different serial number?

Serial break(stop/begin) on serial # when JD engineers changed from open center to closed center steering IE certain serial #
