What does "exempt" mean?? Exempt from what?

Road tax.

Some also only honor that price with cash. So add 2.5 to 3 % to the price. Drives me nuts. I travel the entire country in my pilot job yet I have more issues at home with fuel.

Off road diesel, colored fuel.

Off road diesel, colored fuel.

Partially correct. It can be any fuel dyed or not other than gasoline. Diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, heating oil, ect. Truckers and other transporters can buy fuel in Indiana at a "exempt" rate. It removes 6.54% of the cost. So if diesel fuel is sold at $3.50 exempt this is a non tax price. That fuel would cost me and you in a pickup truck $3.73.

Here is a State document explaining it all.
