Just another move to make a few people richer on the backs of many.

Very few vehicles on the road are designed to be compatible with E15.

We saw a lot of damage done in the 80s when they first tried E10 when nothing was built to withstand it.

IMO it's sort of the dog wagging the tail...because of high tech, genetic and chemical advancements etc. farmers can grow more corn per acre...

The farmers want to sell all the corn they can so to keep them happy they use it (Ethanol) in fuel...

They should teach the farmers how to grow something else...like hemp (not for consumption)...it's multiple uses have massive potential...

I think in the 80's they were using Methanol as a fuel additive and it is corrosive to metals, especially aluminum. The car manual says to NOT use fuel with Methanol in it.

There has been discussion about the issues with using E10 fuel and now the limit will move to 15%.

*****'s ethanol move delivers gift to corn country - POLITICO

In boon for farmers, ***** lifting restrictions on ethanol - The Washington Post

Nothing happening as yet per my news sources (non-mainstream) just a few minutes ago. The president has asked the EPA to look at implementing an increase to 15%. Two problems here pro great for the farmer (maybe) con too much equipment out there that can't (or hasn't had the capability tested) go above 10%....many operator manuals specifically state to not use more than 10%.....so that side will be squaking. So it goes to debate and something happens.....wait and see.

From what it sounded like on the news, E15 is not allowed to be sold for 12 mo out of the year like E10 is. That would be the difference....E15 all year long. The guy said ethanol adds to the smog problem and that is why there was the limit.

I think some of you are missing who is pushing this. The EPA doesn't want year round E15 since it causes more pollution due to evaporation. It also provides lower fuel economy meaning you'll have to burn more fuel to go the same distance (more pollution). The oil industry doesn't want to allow it's use since it cuts into the use of their products. The only side pushing this is the farm lobbyist.

Correct.

***** will "try" to get this for his rural voter base and "blame" the EPA when it fizzles. PP = Pure Politics.

Just think if we had no political parties and no big money from lobbyists, just people in office trying to do what's right. :drink:

Thank goodness methanol wasn't allowed in FL but I had evidence the ethanol was eating the galvanized coating off the inside of fuel tanks.

Was specialist in Volvo repair at the time. Every tune I would turn the inlet side of the removed fuel filter down in a clear glass jar. The content would come out as a silver liquid. After settling a few hours it would be clear fuel on top and several inches of silver grey sediment in the bottom.

Fuel would separate when you shut them off and restart was very difficult.

Just think if all the money spent on political campaign ads was contributed to medical research instead.

Both pipe dreams.................
