It makes a nice flat torque curve. GM seems scared to make a move. They have the ability but chose to take the safe route for 10 years then follow the pack. They could have really done sometime with the tranny and engines.

I commend Dodge and Ford for taking a risk and being leaders.

Chris

Could not have said it better, and I am usually a Chevy guy. They have followed the pack since I started driving 20 years ago.

Is direct injected engines across the board following the pack?

Just curious.

Time will tell if the ecoboost thing was a good plan. With the investigations and class action suits, it might turn into another pinto. Ford has been trying to solve the problem but the f150 forums say the 2013 trucks are still having problems. Some say the new intercooler cuts performance too.

I would be scared to death of a GM DI engine. Hopefully they got it right.

Why?

They've been building DI engines since about 2005. I think maybe 2003 in other markets.

I'd be scared to death of a twin turbo direct injected Ford engine. I know it's a good engine, so far, but I base that on the years I spent as a Ford dealer tech.
