Hearing protection

Bose QC35 are working well for me... best ANC’s I’ve used yet

I also like the WorkTunes hearing protection with bluetooth. They work great, much safer than ear buds with a cord.

The Worktunes I have has an mp3 player input. Yes it still has a cord, but so far I've only snagged the cord a couple of times on tree branches. I also wear a wide brim hat so I poked a hole in the brim for the antenna.

Between the ZTR and the tractor, I use Worktunes for around 200 hours a year. Had a set of the Analog ones that I wore out, and now have a set of MP3 ones-don't even know where the cord is, just listen t the radio. Wished they had better AM reception to listen to sports.

IMO these newer turbo-diesels are hearing protection compared ones from say 20+ years ago. It still trips me out just how quiet my new JD is compared to all the other tractors my family owns or has ever owned, or that I can remember using over the years. (quite a few) I often think my new tractor's too quiet. Lol. I also miss the smell of burn't diesel fuel that the these emissioned up tractors don't offer, but whatever.

Anyway this tractor compared to what I'm use to is like taking a gun, suppressing it, and running sub-sonic ammo. Still if I have a lot of cutting or something to do I'll sometimes throw some earbuds in my ears and listen to talk radio or music. Not really to help protect my hearing, but to keep from getting bored, but earbuds do offer hearing protection if it's something you're wanting to protect while using your tractor.

I'm the old fuddy duddy that puts situational awareness high up on the list. The roll up earplugs work best for me as the muffs are too hot and I can't wear my wide brimmed sun hat with them. I perform a visual check of the cell phone every so often as it's kept in the zippered pocket on my old fashioned bib overalls that I wear when working outdoors. I told you I was an old f art!

I'll wear plan shooting muffs when on the mower. The tractor is quiet, and don't wear them there. I'm usually only running 1600-1800 rpm tooling around hauling stuff in the bucket.

Music is generally a distraction when operating a tractor. High decibel restrictive hearing devices still allow sensitivity to changes in engine noise or implement production while still providing protection. Solicited opinions don't necessarily coincide w/ expectations. Might be a better thread for the safety forum?

I agree. I use ear plugs anytime I am on my equipment, and never listen to music. Safety is first, always.

I use the 3M peltor yellow. I also use earbuds for audio books while I am on the tractor. Hate the wire on the earbuds. Always tugging or getting hung up on something.

I am going to order a pair of the WorkTunes to give them a try. Thanks for starting the post.

I bought the WorkTunes a month or so back. Work great on the tractor and everywhere I have used them....except my lawn tractor. Something about it is interfering and causes whatever playing to skip and generally sound like a scratched record. Luckily I try to mow my lawn as infrequently as possible.
