TE-A20
Morning, recently purchased a fairly rough TEA20, all was well but it required a new battery.
Fitted and all good.
I did notice that the red light that comes on when the key is turned on would sometimes not light up.
Tried starting last week and no go!
I did leave the fuel on at one point and had fuel dripping out of the carby the next day.
I have also noticed that the starter motor will engage with the key in any position?
Wiring as a rule is very ordinary, my plan was / is to re do that first.
Is this sounding like a key switch issue and can the key be replaced with a toggle switch.
It is great having this machine in the shed to work on.

Thank you in advance,

Gary

On a TE20 you don't use the key to engage the starter so the ignition key are just that, only for ignition and has no control over the starter.

Avgv, very good.
So it seems like i am not getting power to the ignition.
Wiring is so bad looking that there could be a problem at any point!

A brand new wiring loom does not cost much

And that is what i have done, bought a new loom.
That will neaten that part up, but i am thinking a new ignition switch will be on order.

These TEA20, are negative ground yes?

Not from from the factory but many have changed to negative earth.

Agvg,

I thought so, mine does seem to be swapped over to neg earth, probably when the 12V upgrade was done.

Also, it seems the wiring loom i bought is wrong, its for the generator, not the alternator.
Glad i rang and checked without cutting anything, correct one ordered and will be swapped over.

Great having this to play with in the shed, reckon i may have invented some work to do with it too!

Okay, I am finally getting back to look at the tractor.
The Bare Co loom I bought seems very wrong, nothing like is on the tractor right now.
P/N is B9017
Thought is to cut it up and wire from the sections in the loom.

any ideas?
