I may just get it any way. Take it over to my sandblaster the next time.

These unique front mount blowers should always have a market. Problem is, most of that market is south of the border.

For what it's worth. My neighbor came by and spent some time on the porch. Seems he traded the blower for a BBQ, and the guy then traded it at his JD dealer towards a blower that would fit his tractor.

Thanks for the update the local JD dealer came by yesterday to apprise my 790 towards a 2520 with a blower that matches so we will see what happens. The appraisal wasn't as high as I would like but the tractor and snowblower are exactly what I want and fairly priced. They are concerned about the resale value of a gear shift tractor when most people coming in want hydro-static. They certainly seem like a good bunch to do business with.

Thanks

Well, if it's not too late, I'll tell you my front mount snowblower + gravel driveway story. I have an F-935 front mount mower and picked up a 47 snowblower to mount on it. I bought the pto reverser and made up a mount for it using square tubing. Yes It blows snow great. It also blows gravel, dog toys, and stones very well.

I have always used my JD 1070 with an 8' Meyers plow adapted to it. I use the loader hydraulic line for up/down and swing left/right. After 1 season of snow blowing (into my face as well), I'm going back to the plow. The 1070 has good ground speed and does not hesitate to push even wet stuff. My driveway is 800' and with a down and back trip, the machine has not even warmed up yet. The front mount blower deal looks cool and may be nice with a cab. But for the cost and time involved to get the job done, I recommend a plow. Yes you may need to push snow windrows off to the side once in a while, but you have the ability. Gravel everywhere at this point. Yes you can raise the skid shoes but now you have an icy driveway.

It's all in technique. Keep the blower from taking all the snow off until you get a few inches of mat built up and the ground good and frozen, then let it float or use down pressure to keep the mat in check. I have tried both an 84" push blade on the loader and a 59 snowblower on the front and prefer the blower for most of the year, however we do get about 300" of snow per year.

My trouble with the push blade was that I had to keep a large area open so I had room as winter went on. This meant I had to cover a lot more ground, and meant I had to drive on my lawn right way in the start of winter before it froze. Now I have a bunch of tire ruts to fix, whereas the blower only required me to drive on what I needed to keep open to drive on with vehicles. I also ended up pushing a lot of gravel off into the yard, much more than with the blower.

If you practice letting mat build up in early winter, you'll find the blower to be the better and faster option.

Hey all! First time poster, and happy to be here! This thread is really timely for me. I just came about a 3005 (same as the 790 from what I've read), and I'd really like to figure out a front blower for it. I basically ran across the exact same message as the OP from the dealer about the front hitch, and their recommendation was to trade in the tractor and get a new one. Not to get into too much detail, but I picked up the tractor from my father in law --so it's not just monetary, there is sentimental value and I'm not really interested in selling it.

Given how long the 790 was produced for and what I've read about the 3005 being basically a 'rebranded' model, I was a bit skeptical on the 'John Deere isn't making these parts anymore', so I did a little research (which is how I came about this thread and forum) and it looks like there were two generations of the 59" blower.

If I understand correctly, the first gen doesn't seem to have the hitch requirement and the second gen (current) does. I'm going off of pictures here, but there is another post on this forum where a member installed a front blower and I don't see in the pictures where the hitch comes into play. Here it is for your reference.

I also found this on the mutton power website where they compare the two generations of blower.
Used John Deere 59" Snowblower Compatibility Chart

I called up Mutton and the sales guy told me that N/A in the chart means "no longer available" from john deere. I'm definitely more used to thinking of N/A as "Not Applicable", and it seems weird to me that the N/A would apply to parts for current models too --so being a bit skeptical and wanting this to work I'm writing this post.

Apparently, all the parts except for the N/A ones are available from JD, so I'm thinking that if I can find a 1st gen snowblower I should be good to go. If anyone out there has installed one of these 59" on a 790/3005 I'd really appreciate a sanity check.

Cheers, and thank you all in advance!!!

I too am a first time poster, and I have a 1999 JD 790 and a JD59 front snowblower for it. I have managed to locate all of the attaching parts except for the Mid-to-Front PTO kit, BM16856. My local JD dealer can get the parts to make the front bracket PTO adapter, but can't get the AM106977 drive shaft that connects from the Mid-PTO to the front bracket PTO adapter.

I ordered BM16856 from the Green Farm Parts website and got a confirmed order number. About an hour later, I got an email message saying that the kit was no longer available and that they were refunding the charge to my credit card. I found it again at Weingartz and am expecting the same result. Does anyone know where I can either get the BM16856 kit or the AM106977 driveshaft? This is the last part I need to get my front snow blower working.

Alternatively, can anyone recommend an alternative solution? For example, I have found several mid-mount mower drive shafts that connect to the Mid-PTO. It seems that I should be able to get a couple of those and with some creative metalwork, fabricate a custom drive shaft that would work. Any thoughts on this option would also be welcome!

Thank you to all for reading and great thanks to anyone who can offer help!

I have a BM19575 kit still for sale. If toy can wait till I get home on the 4th or so I'll look things up and see if it can be adapted. I'd also be willing to sell you my 955 kit and keep the adapted one for myself. I just need to do some research ti see if it all will work. PM me if your interested.
