Comparison John Deer 5065 vrs Kubota 5640

Checked TractorData.com to verify, on my JD5303 B2 runs 5 mph and B3 runs 7.5 mph. Could not find the stated ground speed for the Low 2nd on the M5040, but I am still impressed by the M5040 in that application. Maybe I just underestimate what is possible if needed. I wouldn't mind having a 10' to 12' cutter, but would be limited in it's applications due to mostly wooded areas I work in and around. Still enjoy looking at what others are doing and enjoy looking at equipment.

Also, not to try and change your mind, but my father and I picked up a nice, used 1985 (not positive of year) JD 410B for the heavy work. My dad only uses it for snow removal in the winter so I use it the rest of the year.
Martian is correct in that it will completely outdig (as in, not even a contest) the ability of the JD backhoe you are thinking of. My neighbor has the 485 on his 4720 and it is great for drainage work in tight areas, but I wouldn't even consider doing a big job with it. (for reference, you are talking about excavating a lot more ground that even a large house with full basement would require, and a small backhoe is not up to that task for practical purposes)
However, I completely understand wanting to buy one and if you really want one and know what to expect then there is nothing wrong with that :thumbsup:
Here is what we got for less than the price of what you were quoted for the hoe....

May bad its around 2mph,it was either that or go faster and have to go over it twice cause it was leaving scragglers. I usually pull the 8ft here cause it floods and cant get into here most of the year but my father-in-law had it on his 2wd cause its easier for me to pull him out and I kept mine away from the known wet spots,let him fool with cleaning those up. He only got stuck once but didnt get a picture for some reason.

Are you sure the 485 can fit on the 5065e? According to JD's website it can only go up to the 4x20 series. I think you need an aftermarket backhoe as I don't believe Deere makes a BH to fit the 5065e.

That is a really big trench. I would offer the same advice as mentioned.

Hey Martian - just for your info the 485BH fits the 5E Series just fine...

I agree the JD Configurator sometimes leaves a bit to be desired. And I also agree that a full-size dedicated BH would be better in this situation...
