Suck it, Deere. You were always in the wrong on this one.

It's an agreement between the AFBF and JD that the Farm Bureau will now stop their lawsuit to force mother deere to allow repair, deere simply did not want a court making the decision and was able to place their spin on reasonable costs ect.

I agree. No big revelation here. Wouldn't even consider it a baby step.

Just useless political babbling. Nothing changes

Probably a sizeable donation or some such coming.

Dammm, I thought this was good news for the consumer (I haven't been following it)
but it turns out again, probably, money talks and BS walks.

Hmmm ok sounds like you guys know more than I do. It still sounds like an admission from Deere that they won't pursue legal action against anyone attempting their own repairs or aftermarket service/support therein. We shall see, indeed.

You wont go to jail for fixing it but what they deem that is...

Trying to "jail break" your tractor to reset a filter light ? Jail

Paying some exuberant amount of money for a tool from them.... fair

I'm not happy till its 100% open source and the source code Is on github

"The MOU commits John Deere to ensuring farmers and independent repair facilities have access to many of the tools and software needed"

"The agreement formalizes farmers’ access to diagnostic and repair codes, as well as manuals (operator, parts, service) and product guides. It also ensures farmers will be able to purchase diagnostic tools directly from John Deere"

You guys don't think that is a big step? Instead of hoarding all the knowledge, Deere is now letting you buy diagnostic tools and have access to all codes and repair info. Seems like progress.
