Good that you found the dry spot - grease and oils are our friends in the Eqpt. world.
Don't know your machine but on the KX machines there is grease nipples in front of the operator on the front of the house near the boom pivot - that greases everything that is under the machine and not easy to access.
I seem to recall the steel tracks on Kubota's (newer ones here in the US) has 10-15mm play when set correctly set but don't quote me on that.
