The reason why I inquired about your spending limit is because you can always overbuy with the excess ability reserved for a few applications. But that will translate to tying money down, you can underbuy saving money up front, but spending more time, or needing to rent or upgrade in the future.
If money is freely available, then single purpose tools are best since each is optimized for its purpose.
