Ooooh! I really like that grapple. I have around 20 acres of grubbed mesquite that I could make short work of with that baby!

What made you choose the R4 industrial tires over the R1 ag tires?

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a JD 5065E. Some guys have told I have to have 4WD. I have been getting by w/ an old Ford 4000, and do not thing I need the 4WD. Any opinions?

My first tractor purchase was a 2WD JD 5105. I later added a FEL to it. Loved the tractor, but lacked traction. Considered trying to upgrade rear tires from 14.9-28 to 16.9-28, adding weights and removing water to add RimGuard. In the end I traded it in on a 4WD JD 5303 with FEL. I initially assumed I could get similar performance out of the JD 5105 as I was used to with our Ford 4000. The difference in the 4WD vs 2WD is amazingly different. You can get the best use of the horsepower with the 4WD. I also recommend going with the 16.9-28 rear tires and the 4WD. The JD 5303 gives similiar performance to the Ford 4000 and is basically the same as the JD 5065E. Our Ford 4000 is a later model with 16.9-30 rear tires and I believe comparing them both in 2WD the Ford 4000 may out pull the new JD 5303.
