pros and cons of net wrap ?

why is that ???

It is on the small side for a baler that size, that's all.

For example we pull 4x5 balers with 80 - 100 PTO HP tractors.

It will probably do fine, I just wouldn't want to.

I agree. It's frustrating trying to get a bunch of work done with a tractor that's struggling to get along. Not impossible, but not ideal , either.

I'm running a 4x5 (504G) with a 60 pto with no problem. Maybe if the 4x5 is a lil to much, you could stop at 4'. (4x4)

The only disadvantage for me with the wrap is that by the time I dump it in its spot and can walk around it four or five times to unwind the wrap, I'm fighting cows and trying to keep from getting trampled. If its twine I can usually cut across the bottom with my pocket knife quickly and go around to the other side and pull em out before to many cows get there. Of course y'all may know a better way.

I tip the bale on end and use a knive or razor knife and slice down the side. Usually no problem just peeling it off.

He's thinkin' that 48hp is on the shy side of being able to handle that baler. The 4' JD balers (with net wrap) that I've been looking at have a minimum of 55hp @ pto. The Vermeer might be lower.

Nobody suggested you need to replace the tractor.

my biggest problem with the bale wrap is when it's froze on the bottom it takes a while to cut and get it all off, other than that works good.

If you carry bales with a loader, lift frozen bales as high as you can, then drop them before placing them & cutting the net. Helps out with the frozen stuff.
