Shredder Vacs... Good, Bad or Ugly???

Funny. Trade in the gas so the power companies can use more gas. All my zero turns have mulch kits. I wait for all my leaves to fall and make one pass. You would never know there were any leaves to begin with. Of course no gas mower will make that difficult. That's something I never have to worry about.

I've got one of the big DR units from about 5 years ago. Tow it behind my Kubota 7610. It's inlet is attached to the outlet of the Kubota's belly mower. Believe it's equivalent to either the Pro 330 or the Pro XL 330 they sell now. Has a 10 or 12 HP electric start Briggs to run the Vac.

Being on a wooded riverbank, I have tons of leaves. The DR does a good job, but the 44 cu. ft collector is barely enough. Maybe it would be simpler to just list the good and bad points.
Good:
1)Does a clean job if collector not full.
2)Starts easily. Shutoff valve under gas tank allows it to be run dry at the end of the season.
3)Dual wheels don't mark up the lawn.
4)Dumps clean
5)Cart part of collector will carry a half-ton.
6)Tongue jack eases hookup.
7) accessory hose can be used to clean out flower beds

Bad:
1)Needs help to get started dumping-serious muscle needed to start dump cycle.
2)Assembly required
3)Wet leaves and twigs (beyond a certain size) will cause clogs
4)Not practical to disassemble for storage
4a) takes up a lot of room in off-season.
4b) Cart can't be used for other tasks.
5)Hose from Mower to Vac is awkward in use
6)Hose is a consumable-lasts about 4 seasons.
7)It's loud in use

Hope this helps.
Bob
