When I see a "too good to be true" (a JD 790 TLB for $2400 this weekend on Reading PA Craig's List) I send a brief query- "Where can I see it?"

The answer came from a gal whose dad died and she has it in Provo, Utah!

Those scams usually disappear after a few days.

There's also a link to report SPAM and other issues. I don't report CL scams on TBN (did once or twice)...I just click the CL spam link. The ad will be gone in a few hours.

When I was looking for a tractor I found many "great deals" on Craigslist. Besides the giveaway pricing, many of these "local" (Tucson area) tractors were pictured on lush green fields with tall trees in the background.

don't list your phone number
use secondary free email account.
cash only, no checks or other.

tell them to put something in the email or subject line of email when they reply.

you call them, or reply with your phone number. or give them an address and time.
