Mowing Tractor problem or shredder issue?

Dont screw with the injection pump uless you have a shop manual!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need metric wrenches to do the work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is the lead seal and copper were still in place on the fuel adjustment screw and lock nut??

You will be in a world of hurt if you make mistake.

You most likely need to treat the diesel fuel with a bacteria killing fuel treatment "Heet" is one
brand of fuel treatment.

An indirect injection behaves differently than a direct injection engine. Do you know which type of engine you have????

If the fuel tank has a sediment bowl it may be plugged with dirt and water.

NOW, you may have water in the diesel fuel which is most likely one of the two issues.

Throw the old air filter outr and get a new one!!!!!!!!!!! if there is a safety element change that one as well.

Air filters are much less costly than engines. Did you examine the chaff screen in front of thr radiator??????

================================================================

Drain out the old fuel and pour in some new fuel, new air filters and some Sea Foam or Heet AFTER you clean the sediment bowl.

You need to know how to bleed the air out of the fuel system if it is an indirect injection engine and you need to ask a dealer how to do this if you do not have a shop manual.

Your fuel pump may also be sucking air through a copper washer used to seal one of the two banjo bolts on the injection pump if it has a indirect injection engine with a Bosch injection pump.

Radiator and screen have been cleaned repeatedly inside and out.
I'll check inside the sediment bowl but it was pretty clean when I changed the filter about 3-4 hours ago and no water was present, just a tiny bit of gunk at the bottom.
The air filter change is coming before do any more work.

The directions given steer clear of any area that would cause a problem. ... OP has a 2500 rpm rated engine that wont surpass 2100 on high idle. ... :

Follow the linkage that moves when you operate either "throttle". They start separate but join quickly and lead onward to the fuel injection pump. Observe that he linkage operates a lever on that pump. The lever has a stop screw. Is it coming all the way to the screw when you operate the "throttle". ... It should. If not, figure out why. ... If it is reaching the stop screw you can back off the screw a turn or so to increase the high idle rpm you are able to set.

,,,The governor acts from that lever, but inside the pump itself. It trys to hold the rpm you set by increasing fuel if the rpm drops. Some governors are sensitive and will increase fuel more sharply thus holding the set rpm closely until the max fuel limit is reached. Others are less sensitive - like maybe yours. If you let your engine lug all the way down to 1000 in hard mowing, does it smoke then?

Did you check the air filter?
