The easiest way to lay out something like the hydrant wrench is to make a circle the same size as the outside diameter and use a radius to marker to make 5 equal distant points. You have to play a little to get it just right but it's easier than remembering how to draw a pentagon or other shape.;) Hexagon is real easy because the circle is exactly 6 times the radius. Used to make flanges for fire tubes like that to mark where the holes needed to be punched with the ironworker.

I would have taken some thin gasket material, and a ball peen hammer. Tap, tap, tap. ;)

never thought of that with the hexagon. Nice. I tend to draw it on the computer and print it . Model 1:1

Nice torch work by the way.

Thank y'all. I really enjoy cutting with a torch.

Clean tip and a steady hand, you can do some real nice work with a cutting torch. I don't why a lot people think you need to buy a plasma to make good cuts on steel.

Manila folders work great for patterns (and gaskets in a pinch) and if you want something more robust a hanging file folder for pattern.

Built a new bumper for my truck. I sold the old welding bed and bought a new factory bed. I hate chrome bumpers. image-249948295.jpg I'm not real happy with end caps, and may redo to match body lines. It was all scrap JD tool bar, Fred Cain subsoiler frame, random plate.

This bell was at my great great grandmothers. It was broken and I brazed it back about ten years ago. Momma and daddy gave it to us a while back. Built mount and pole for it with new paint.
