What is this rain stuff you all are talking about? We are not familiar with it, but some old folks around here claim to have seen some years ago, but most people think they're a little crazy.

Seriously, we really need moisture or fall crops are in big trouble again. We went from being too wet to plant to being too dry in 2 months.

I HAVE SEEN THAT THEIR ARE OTHER PLACES THAT IS ALOT WORSE THAN WHAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING HER IN IOWA .......TAKE A LOOK AT THE US DROUGHT MONITOR. US Drought Monitor

We Baled some hay 2 days ago the second cut was only a third of the first cut of hay. I noticed that in some fields the corn leafs are curling and some of the corn got a blueish color . :(

June 25--0.25" bringing the total for the wet season (Oct-May) to 15". Normal is 18". We've been in drought-like conditions here in the North Sacramento Valley for the past 2 years. Got 21" rainfall in 2010-11 and 24" in 2009-10.

Farming around here is mostly orchard crops (almonds, English walnuts, prune plums, olives, pistachios) all irrigated via canal water from the irrigation district. Source is Shasta Lake. Ground water is pumped when the district rations canal water during drought conditions.

There is some irrigated alfalfa grown. Other hay crops are dry farmed (one cutting per season in early May).

Yep, a few sprinkles off and on here this morning.

Prior to this, maybe 5-7 days ago was the last rain.

IT actually just got everything dried out and able to venture off the drives/roads since it rained for about 3 weeks straight prior to it stopping 5-7 days or so ago.

We have been getting a steady rain for the past three hours. It has been over a month since we have gotten any measurable rain. I sure hope it continues....
