Sycamore has some nice brownish color, even a green tinge at times. OTOH. sycamore is often hollow and cutting hollow trees can be dangerous.

Honey locust is nowhere near as rot resistant as black locust. OTOH, I think honeylocust has some nice color and grain. I have lots of honeylocust here and anyone is welcome to them as long as you take ALL the thorns with you!

Just food for thought. Wood turners love all the wood that is nasty and makes you not want to run it through the mill. We like root balls, crotch pieces, and especially burls. Basically if it looks useless and or difficult it would probably interest a turner. You could make some money and friends that way.

Poplar makes good lumber. Dad used it on many of his buildings. They get large and straight.
