If you remember ever making a reverse charge phone call from a phone booth.

Ha. I do remember.

Phone booths —- my grand nieces (10 years old) were watching old Superman TV shows and asked me what that box was where Superman changed clothes?

Had to laugh. How to even begin!

My dad had a Metropolitan, late 1950’s into early 1960’s. The story I got was that mom refused to date him until he sold that car.

I guess they weren’t “cool” at the time, but they look neat to me. Wish I had that one today!
Didn't the seats in a Metropolitan fold down flat to make a bed? Maybe your mother just didn't want him to get any "ideas" too soon. :sneaky:

I got a drivers license in 1970. My first car was a $50 VW with no brakes. Fixed and drove that until winter... New England winters are long with no heat! Bought a 1960 Chevy Impala for a $100 with a heater. Then a Pontiac Star Chief with a big block, also for $100 and we thought that car was fast lol. Come Spring I traded that car for a Honda 350CB. It was a great Summer.
My best experience with a cheap-o car was in the early-mid 90s. Was on my way home from a short road trip to Maine, was a couple hundred miles from home and the car I had threw a rod (or something...it was clattering pretty bad). Limped it a couple miles to some sketchy-looking buy here pay here lot. They had a Plymouth Horizon that had seen better days for $650. Didn't have enough cash with me, had to put it on a credit card. Figured if it got me home, I'd have gotten my money's worth. Ended up driving it for about 3 more years 'til rust claimed it. I don't think the coolant in it had ever been changed in its 100k+ miles...it looked like mud.

I had a Honda CB 360 in the mid-late 70s. Kind of a mediocre bike, traded it for a Yamaha 750 a couple years later.

I got a Honda CL350 scrambler in 1974. It was the most fun bike a teenager could have in my opinion. Plenty of power to get to/from school/work but not enough to get in trouble.

Great memories of that bike!

One like this? I've had it 50 years . I just took it out for a spin...runs great. I try keeping it original as possible, the tube radio still works. It's a 1958 and I've gotten 50 mpg...back when gas was 18c/gal.
