Hello Kevin, Hardy is now owned by by Pronovost.
It all depends on how thick the steel and whether it has a center drive or a
(chain drive) which is preferred as a chain drive cfross auger will give you fewer
problems over time as a broken shear pin in the middle of snow storn is a
hatefull thing, been there done that, the next one ifor me s a Pronovost P620
with an extended chute and all the bells and whistles.
The Pronovost line has thicker steel.
It all depends on your wallet as the snow caster should have all the bells
and whistles and I am unsure how much Pronovost puts in the Lynx line.
its always a good idea to have the rear tires loaded I have windshield
washer fluid and chains on my garden tractor as it was worthless without
the windshield washer fluid even though I have chains and 84 pounds of
suitcase wieghts and me in the seat.
The other thing is you can always move up one size and just go a bit slower
on the first pass and take half cuts for the rest
A snow caster is still a farm implement even though it does not dig dirt or
rake hay.
