149 Cub Cadet
Old Iron
Model Year: 1972

From back when Cub Cadet was built by International Harvester. Heavy steel frame, cast iron front axle and transaxle. Even the grill housing is cast iron. 14 hp Kohler engine. I'm pretty sure this machine will be around another 40 years with only regular maintenance. Hydrostatic trans and hydraulic lift.

Pros: Bullet proof and easy to maintain. Cub Cadet (MTD) still supports these machines with parts listings on line.
Cons: Some (very few) parts are getting hard to find. Most are easy though.

149 Cub Cadet
My New Old Tractor
Model Year: 1972

I recently purchased my Cub Cadet from a neighbor whose husband pasted away. While it's a little rough around the edges, it's a very sound tractor. She has a Danco front loader that makes my life way easier. My plans are to use it all summer and then completly resore it over the winter. Anyone who can help me with getting original decals, I would really apprecaite it. Go IH.

Pros: Everything. Great little tractor.
Cons: None/last owner didn't take great care of it.
