Dandy
Model Year: 2006

This is the second tractor for me, I have not found anything that is a deal breaker for me. I have the cab, backhoe and front-end loader. I honestly figured it was going to dig more on the toy side, was I wrong. It has plenty of power in hard clay soil, I was really surprised.

Pros: Very well built
Cons: Price of filters and fluids

This is a nice unit. It is a little under powered and the hydraulics are a little weak, but overall it is a nice tractor to operate.

Pros: Nice size, able to get in and around spaces nicely
Cons: Under powered, not much low end, radiator plugs easy if brush hogging in tall grass

Good Tractor
Model Year: 2010

Very capable. Can do much more than my old 135. Stable and easy to use. Build quality seems better than John Deere, Kubota and New Holland.

Pros: Ease of use, stability, smooth operation
Cons: needs rear wheel weights

Fuel Issues
Model Year: 2009

Two problems (post warranty): First: Dirt in fuel tank. Fix by removing tank and cleaning, Had screen custom made at filler opening. Dealer had nothing to offer. Second Problem: Seems the Woodward Solenoid may need replacing; a common problem, apparently. Access to replace is tough.

Pros: Easy driving.
Cons: Access to maintenance, removing loader awkward.

33hp Massey Has Lived Up To It's Expectations
Model Year: 2012

Tractor has done more than I ever thought it could, and is tougher than I expected. We use this in our Organic Farm and Vineyard. Moved 185 yards of Rock for Landscape. Moved more dirt than I can count. Never had anything it couldn't lift, or handle. 90+ time in 4 Low and plug along at 2000 rpms. Winter moves BIG SNOW like now tomorrow. Pushed, I mean pushed a 300' straight path in one shot that was over 2' deep. Just muscled it down the driveway. No spinning out. The extra bolt on 350 per side wheel weights are a must. I just got to the complete fluid swap from break in. I have friends who paid more for other big name machines and can't keep up with me in similar size. I upgraded to the skid steer front end system. Best thing I ever did. Way more bucket and better built than the one that comes on it. Talked a neighbor into one, and he bought the 40 HP next size up from mine w/backhoe---LOVES it. Only thing I forgot to have put on is the REAR hydraulic hook ups. Massey does make a quick Bolt on version. I just forgot. I

Pros: Does more than ever expected.
Cons: Haven't found any yet.

This is my first tractor. I have found it to be excellent in every way, but have no experience with other machines with which to compare. It is extremely fuel efficient. It has excellent power. I snowblow, mow a field, do some logging with a winch and some rototilling. The machine doesn't even break a sweat.

Pros: Fuel economy, power, work platform.
Cons: Limited tool box.

Not a Bad Tractor
Model Year: 2007

We grow choose and cut Christmas trees on 17 acres and we also produce compost (from horse manure, wood chips, etc). Our 1533 with FEL performs a variety of chores from ground preparation to snow removal and pesticide application to compost woodrow building and dump truck loading. It's a good little tractor but we've outgrown it already. I'm regretting not getting something in the 65-80 HP range as this tractor seems to need a little more butt for my needs. It's probably a great tractor for the hobby farm. It does work hard and isn't afraid of much. Very reliable and I've never had an issue with it---it's better than most people I know. The only thing I dislike intensely are the ergonomics of the controls. It's difficult to keep an eye on the three-point mounted equipment with knocking my knee into the FEL controller (and commanding it to dig into the ground causing an abrupt stop) or dragging a butt cheek into the PTO control and disengaging it. Sometimes I can do both :) This tractor is simply not engineering for large males (I'm 6'1" and 240 lbs) to operate comfortably. I wish it had a hydraulic remote... Other than that, I've generally liked this tractor and can continue to live with it if my accountant says I can't upgrade... Honey?

Pros: Reliability, guts, fit and finish.
Cons: Control layout/ergonomics.

My Red Machine
Model Year: 2005

My only other tractor was an old Ferguson TO-35. My 1533 w/bucket was like going from a motor scooter to a Cadillac. It has performed very well. I've only had it stuck once and a neighbor with a 1540 MF pulled me out. Nothing else to compare it with, hence, the above ratings. Changed the oil and hydraulics myself and thanks to the forum I learned where and how to bleed the hyd. system.

Pros: Easy to operate and service.
Cons: Hyd. filter only available through MF and very expensive.

I Think I Can
Model Year: 2009

Even though this is a compact tractor, It doesn't know it. Other than being light in the ass, this machine amazes me at how much you can do with it. I have moved loads of dirt, loads of stone, planted sweet corn, used it for rototilling, loaded snow mobiles on trailers, pulled a 6' disc, drug deer out of the woods for hunters, pulled a 7' grader blade, laid plastic mulch. In 4 wheel low it just keeps on going "I think I can, I think I can" and it does. It does get tipsy with a load in the bucket especially with out a counter weight or implement on the back. The hydrostatic transmission works good, but the pedal operation sticks. My model has 2 separate pedals for forward and back, I see the new models have be improved.

Pros: Plenty of power, very handy with quick change loader attachments.
Cons: Direction pedals stick that's my biggest issue.

MF 1533 with Loader
Model Year: 2010

Excellent tractor much heavier duty than Mahindra 32hp I had previously. strong hydraulics well balanced the MF 1533 I have is shuttle shift would like to have a sychro. trans but overall quality is excellent and uses less fuel.

Pros: Strong built and hydraulics. Great seat.
Cons: For tall guys the starter key gets bent but that is minor.

Heard Co. Farm Wanabee
Model Year: 2010

Purchased my red tractor from Deer Farm at the recommendation of the guy that rents my old home place farm. He has lots of land in Heard Co rented for hay and uses Red exclusively. Had an old TO35 with some equipment and traded it all for the 1533 w/loader and a 5' Modern Ag rotary cutter. This thing is great! Love the position of the loader joystick. Have cleared some Brush/privet in my pines and moved some landscape rocks, and of course bush hogged. The only thing I could possibly have a beef with is that the high speed gearing, even in the lowest gear, is so high that it's hard not to lug the engine. Wish also that all Mfg would recognize the importance of aux hyd.

Pros: Excellent platform layout.
Cons: High speed gearing and no rear remotes on hyd.

Happy Owner
Model Year: 2008

Great tractor. Power has never been an issue. It has performed all tasks presented. I own a 31 acres farm stead. The more than 25 acres of fields were 3ft tall and with a 60" rotary cutter it mowed it without complaint. I use a 84" rear blade to move snow and a 60" tiller to work the garden. I opted for the Power Shuttle transmission and have found it to be excellent. Very comfortable and fuel efficient.

Pros: Power, frugal on diesel, comfortable.
Cons: Cost of filters and hydraulic fluid.

Happy Owner
Model Year: 2008

Tractor has been all I expected. The only problem has been a faulty seat switch which I repaired. I maintain a 1/4 mile gravel drive. Till several acres of garden, mow another several acres of orchard and rotary cut a mile of fence line. The tractor is comfortable and fun to operate.

Pros: A great value with the FEL.
Cons: Cost of filters and Permatran.

Massey 1533
Model Year: 2007

Great tractor. Easy to use and maintain. I had an issue with the rear left axle retaining nut coming loose. I used red loctite to solve the problem. It could use a few more ponies, but it does what I ask of it. Dealer support is great too.

Pros: Tight turning radus, shuttle shift, FEL control.
Cons: Dark at night aroud rear tires, I added clearance ligths under the platform.

Nice Machine
Model Year: 2007

I am a first time tractor owner. I purchased the unit used - private sale - with 160 hours. I really have nothing to compare it with, but have been impressed with what it can do. I have yet to push the limits of the machine. I have a heavy duty bucket, brush mower, logging winch and tiller. All have performed well and I am really starting to be impressed with what this tractor can accomplish.

Pros: power/ease of handling.
Cons: None that I have found.

1533 Massey Ferguson
Massey 1533 FEL
Model Year: 2008

A great little tractor for light clearing of woods and yard work. In the two plus years that I have had this tractor it has done almost everything that I have thrown it's way. A couple of times it has failed to lift something with FEL--just my asking to much of it. i.e. Bridgeport mill just barely lifted off the trailer inches before the rear tires stated to float. It pulls and carries large logs with little effort and plows throw 8-16" snow with very little slipping.Just built 3.5 bore wood splitter for 3pt works great with reasonable speed about 9 second cycle time. I'll post some pic's soon I have a few of them with it at work.

Pros: quiet , qreat on fuel , comfortable , eazy to hook up 3pt attachments
Cons: lacks power beyond or rear remote hookups , overly expensive filters massey should be better to customers

Room for Improvement
Model Year: 2007

1. The hydraulic distribution valve for the loader will release all your fluid 2. The shuttle pedal "sticks" (safety issue) 3. The hood prop lever is flimsy and poorly designed. The slightest pressure against the open hood creates damage to the outside of the panel. 4.The labels make no sense. Please use English!! 5. Although compactness is the idea, some maintenance performance is made unnecessarily difficult. Too tight. 6. Fit and finish are 5 out of 10, not enough room provided here for descriptive review.

Pros: A reasonably hard working machine for its size.
Cons: Dealer support level was a little lacking.

Great little tractor
Model Year: 2008

This is my first tractor. I wanted something small enough to get through the woods but large enough to do most chores around the farm. The 33 HP Massey is a great compromise between size and power.

Pros: Quality, ruggedness
Cons: None so fa
