4310 John Deere
Dan's Deere
Model Year: 2004

Excellent tractor. Used it to landscape 4 of my 7 acres. I've been mowing with the 6' belly mower those 4 acres ever since (5 years) without a single problem. Also clear a 900' long driveway of seasonal and lake-effect snow.

Pros: Power, speed, comfort
Cons: none

4310 John Deere
4310 sync shift/ 430 loader/telescoping draft links/ tooth bar
Model Year: 2003

Yanmar engine superb. Starts in any weather. Great torque. Well balanced and stable considering short wheelbase and typical narrow stance of a compact. Handles 5 ft bush hog in heavy brush no problem. 6 ft 500lb rear blade is a perfect match with loader attached. Handles other properly sized implements without problems. Common problems for the 4310 to look out for. Instrument cluster fogging, repaired under warranty, tilt steering wheel weakest feature, oversize 12.4X24 R1s don't leave enough clearance for chains which I needed this winter. Keep a close eye on wheel torque especially for first 50 hrs of operation. Xmission hydro filter is a bear to access and change.

Pros: power to weight, turns on a dime, reliable starting and running
Cons: tilt steering is a joke, fuel gauge is faulty and can't be fixed.

4310 John Deere
JD 4310 - Everything I had hoped it would be
Model Year: 2004

Bought my 4310 just before we broke ground on our new home. It paid for itself by doing the backfilling and finish landscaping. Power is good, I run a 7' finish mower and a 5' snowblower with no problem. FEL attachment procedure is very easy, it takes me about 90 seconds to attach/remove. Very happy with overall quality and design. When I shopped for a tractor I checked out Kubota, New Holland, and Agco. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Bought as big as I could afford, glad I did.

Pros: Overall package
Cons: Local dealers have gone downhill

4310 John Deere
2003 JD 4310 eHydro w/430 Loader and 47 Backhoe
Model Year: 2003

I purchased a 2003 John Deere 4310 w/430 Loader and 47 Backhoe in the fall of 2008 from the original owner. It also came with an owner installed Curtis enclosed cab w/heat, windshield wiper, halogen lights and AM/FM/CD player. It was my first tractor and, so I'm told, I'm spoiled rotten! The original sales slip shows it cost $30,302.22 out the door - before the Curtis Cab option. I picked it up for $16,500 and that’s why I rate it a great value. As far as build quality - I think it is a very sturdy machine - I don't go easy on it. I did crack the plastic hood recently doing some tree work but a metal hood would have dented anyway. As far as features go - there is nothing fancy - 4-way front bucket control and 8-way backhoe. I cannot add a mid mower or any 3pt hydraulic driven mechanism with modification. The backhoe hydraulics are specific to the 47 hoe and will NOT, as I understand it, accommodate other hydraulic tools like a wood chipper or splitter. I can drive any 540 PTO tools on the 3pt hitch. A far as performance and reliability - It has done EVERYTHING I've asked it to including snow removal on a 100 ft. uphill dirt and gravel driveway. It always starts... It always stays running. Since I bought it used the dealer issue is really n/a but I do know the dealer who sold the machine to the guy I bought it from and they have been very helpful both with information and one service visit last year.

Pros: eHydro is great and simple
Cons: It is a bit narrow and can feel "tippy" I'm told I can invert the rear tires and give it a wider stance - I have not tride that but I may.
