JD 2210 Preforms Bigger then it is.
Model Year: 2006
We use this tractor for every thing you can imagine. It meets or exceeds every expectation from excavating, to grading, plowing snow, cleaning the barn, & mowing the grass. A rear ballast is key. I made a floating ballast that mounts on the draft-links of the 3-point using a primary fly-wheel from a Massey-Ferguson MF-10 Bailer, it weighs about 300 lbs. As you raise the 3-point up and down, the fly-wheel ballast moves higher and closer to the tractor or lower and further away. This system makes the JD 2210 a Traction Monster. When you have a large load in the bucket, you drop the ballast all the way down lowering the center of gravity and extending the lever moment, at the loss of ground clearance. When you lower the load in the bucket simply raise up the 3 point and now you great loading on all 4 wheels. This tractor goes anywhere it will push through brush and negotiates soft ground well. We also use it for moving larger implements in and out of storage, with the super maneuverability of the 2210, short wheel base you can park things tight and close together. When the wind blows, it seems we always loose a sliding door on the barn, we made a bracket on the doors that we can slide the knife edge of the loader under and hoist the door up, the lift power and maneuverability of the 2210 gets the doors right back on to the trolly. When we are cutting wood for the winter heating season, the JD 2210 has become the staple for skidding the trees from felling to limbing and then field cut hauling in the bucket to the splitter. The engine is extremely thrifty on fuel, a full tank will give a full day of work. This tractor starts easily cold weather. The only drawback of this tractor is the location of the transaxle cooling fan, when you are brushing with the mower deck off it is vulnerable to breakage, I am on my second one in 700 hours. A simple guard made from a scrap of heavy sheet metal solves the problem. We still have the original TURF tires that it came with, soon though we are going to re-shoe it with Titan-AG Tires - they are great and come in original factory sizes. In Hugo we have a 9/11/01 Memorial Tractor Parade. We put 3 huge flags on the front brush guard and two on the ROPS up-rights, and a memorial sign on the front, small tractor big message. Also, we added 3 wide angle area work lights to the ROPS - two looking forward and one looking back. The aux rear light connector is under the seat and is pre-wired into the light switch, so all you need to do is drill 3 holes for the mounting stems and snake the wire through the tubes. One of the things we really like is that this tractor is so easy on fuel, when we work outside at night, we use it to light the area. One final comment, we have a lot of electric t-rail fence posts and this tractor makes maintaining these fences easy work. You can pull and plunge posts in a heart beat with the tractors loader by bolting a short piece of chain to the bucket with a slot hook that fits the thickness of the t-posts. We put the wire and tools in the bucket, posts on the small trailer we pull and with the wide area lighting thanks to this tractor the work keeps going well after the sun goes down. Pros: Size; Good weight; Power and super easy to operate with the HST; if you are not abrupt on this tractor you can really push it with out hurting it because it'a all hydraulic.
Cons: Could have better ground clearance 1-2% of the time; the vulnerability of the transaxle cooling fan.
