Kubota 3240
Model Year: 2009

I sold my larger New Holland tractor that was two-wheel drive and bought this tractor with four-wheel drive after buying some more property that was quite steep. The Kubota has performed very well at any job I needed to do. Now that I own a sawmill, I may need a larger tractor or a back hoe in order to move some large logs, but the 3240 is an excellent small tractor for my farming needs. I have a few cows, buffalo, and pigs and use it for working in the hay fields. I have not had any mechanical problems and keep the service updated on it.

Pros: Excellent small tractor
Cons: I need more lifting capability now due to sawmill purchase

Liked It So Much I Bought a 2nd
Model Year: 2012

So far this has been a perfect match for both our home needs and for the needs of the school I work for. At work we had three older Ford/New Hollands that each did one thing well but were getting older and we just didn't need that much rolling stock. At home I had a 1970's vintage 3600 Ford which was fine for mowing but lacked 4 wheel drive so was not a good platform for a loader. We also had a Kubota M5700 inherited from my wife's uncle which was too big to easily trailer and without 4 wheel drive it was lousy with the factory loader. Traded them both in for a new 3240HST and have been in heaven ever since. About the same size as the 3600 and just as maneuverable plus easy to haul to our other property. Based on that experience (and that my department head saw what I had) we again traded in the old Fords for one 3240 HST. I spec'd the higher capacity 724 loader for both with skid steer quick attach. I got a pallet for attachment for the school machine and we now wonder how we every managed without it. I'd recommend the bigger loader for everyone as it has better breakout force and more lift height. Absolutely no issues with either machine. Other than the 50 hours service there have been no $$ spent.

Pros: The HST, cruise, loader capacity, size and agility.
Cons: None so far.

L3240 Kubota
Great Little Tractor
Model Year: 2012

I've been using this tractor for moving dirt and reworking some contours for drainage. It's also been getting shredding done around the place. I had a problem with the hydraulic system at about 150 hours. Other than that, she hasn't missed a lick. The seat is comfortable, the controls are easy to work with and intuitive. It could use a bit more room in the cab though. It does not even have a place to mount a fire extinguisher.

Pros: Powerful for it's size. Comfortable.
Cons: A small cab.

This is a great tractor and a joy to operate! The controls are very ergonomic with good visibility around the equipment. The 3 point hitch is easier to hook up with the quick adjustable ends. I also use a quick hitch which definitely speeds up changing implements, especially when you are alone. It does help though to make sure that all of your implements are ASAE Quick Hitch compatible, otherwise you will have to modify your attachments. While this tractor is plenty strong enough for my needs it would have been nice if the PTO had A little more horse power to handle a bigger finishing mower.

Pros: Definitely a Cadillac tractor, easy to operate for less experianced operators.
Cons: Could use standard wheel weights and water ballast for front loader work.

Great tractor. Stall guard works very well for mowing. Only problem is too wide for my 5' snowblower left over from previous tractor. I can live with that. LA524 FEL Land Pride FDR1672 Mower Buhler 600 Snow Blower Liberty WC-8 Wood Chipper Home made sprayer

Pros: Everything.
Cons: None.

Great Buy!
Model Year: 2010

I am very happy with the L3240. I was interested in the L3400 but when I compared the 2, I thought the L3240 seemed the better value for what I needed. I don't farm but I manage my 20 forested acres with it.

Pros: Comfortable, powerful and manageable.
Cons: None so far.

Power & Versitility
Model Year: 2007

I run a number of attachments off my 3240 and they all perform as advertised. The quality that I am most impressed with is the power of the tractor. I pulled a ramp truck out of a mud hole and just couldn't believe that it had the power to pull a fully loaded truck that was stuck. Just a few days ago I got my 3/4 truck pulling a dump trailer full of wood stuck and sure enough, I hooked up my 3240 and pulled it out. I can't say enough good things about this tractor.

Pros: Versatility and power.
Cons: Done for me.

Grand L3240 with the Money
Model Year: 0

Hi: I don't use my tractor every day, but when I need it, I need it. I use it to brush hog our subdivision roads, move snow (loader and three-point snow blower), disc the arena, and other duties. The tractor is superb in operation and controls. The cab is a wonderful asset when it is 100 degrees outside, or when it is minus 10. There is plenty of room in the cab, and the machine has all of the muscle I need. If you have a small place, and need a tractor that will protect you while doing everything you need it to do, I would say this is the machine to get. Bob

Pros: Comfortable, powerful, great options.
Cons: None.

L3240 Kubota
Kubota with BH9 Backhoe and Front Loader
Model Year: 2007

I used the tractor to dig out and landscape a pond in Vermont. Now live in Southern Utah where the tractor continues to be trouble free. I bought L series for wider track as I had tipped a B series on its side. I tend to be on steep banks both in Vt. and here in Utah, so stability is very important. The only major complain is the design of the rear wheel bolts. They are not counter sunk like any other vehicle I have seen, so if the bolts loosen at all, the inner wheel will crack and need to be replaced (about $200 in 2012).

Pros: Appears very dependable.
Cons: Easy to disengage 4 wheel drive lever. Roll bar should be 6 inches shorter to fit through standard 9 foot garage door. Seat belt gets caught between seat and fender.

Loved it So Much I Bought a Second One
Model Year: 2012

I work at a private school in Alabama and we had a rag tag collection of old Ford/New Hollands: 3940, TC25, and 1715, which together added up to one mediocre tractor. I approached our local Kubota dealer, from whom we had purchased several Kubota Zero Turn mowers about consolidating our "fleet". They recommended the 3420HST and we could not be more satisfied. We went with the optional LA724 SSQA loader and got a pallet fork setup along with the standard bucket. After living with the 3420 at the school for a month I'm two days away from taking delivery of my own 3420HST to replace my Kubota M5400 and Ford 3600. The 5400 shuttle shift was great 10 years ago but super HST has it beat all to heck for loader and box blade work. Definitely upgrade to the 724 loader as the $650 up charge is nothing over 20 years and you'll love the extra capacity.

Pros: HST, flat floorboards, auto throttle, tilt wheel, 4X4, SSQA.
Cons: It ain't cheap.

Best Purchase Yet!
Model Year: 2010

I bought this 2010 Kubota L3240HST w/ind. tires used with 14.6 hours on it. It currently has 40 hrs. and is everything I expected. Great value/performance. It came with QA FEL, forklift attachment, and a Modern 5ft Galv. Super-Sunshine rotary cutter. I then purchased a Modern 5-1/2ft. Galv. box blade. Plans are to add a ROPS cover (alum.checker plate), 3pt. rototiller (48-50 inch), middle buster, root grapple, and possibly a finish mower. I would like to buy a point quick-hitch. Wondering if one is better than others.

Pros: Great machine, easy to operate, a joy to use, very fuel efficient, so many features I haven't learned to utilize them all yet. The best therapy is time spent with your tractor.
Cons: None so far.

Can a Compact Tractor Be Any Better?
Model Year: 2007

We bought this used, with just less than 600 hours on it. I've added around 77 to it, so I hope this is enough time to be credible in my review. I had previously used a Massey 360 to clear much of the property we bought as a hobby farm. Living so close to the coast, our soil is fairly sandy, and the 2WD of the Massey, plus its weight, made it bog down fairly often. Went looking for a smaller 4WD, as the clearing grunt work was all done. A friend owns an L3240 with a cab, and let me test his out on his farm. I was blown away. He has the HST transmission, which I didn't want, but the quality, maneuverability, and features of his machine impressed me greatly. When our local dealer got ours in on a trade, with the FST trannie that I wanted, it was a no brainer. Not a single issue with it so far. It's economical, no repairs, incredibly well-made and balanced, the 4WD hasn't bogged me down yet, and it's amazingly easy to do routine and other maintenance on. If there's a better compact series out there, I have not found it - and believe me, I did many hours of research on them. We also own a smaller John Deere, a subcompact; and while I like it a lot, it just isn't like this Kubota. I'm sold on orange, I can only tell you.

Pros: Too many to list.
Cons: One: the cupholder is too skinny. And that's about it.

My New Kubota L3240
Model Year: 2012

Good power and fuel economy. Easy operation. Nice features like anti-stall with hydrostatic transmission. All controls are within easy reach and the seat + operator's deck are very comfortable. Front-end loader is one of the most powerful. Currently, dealers are anxious to make deals. Compared the L3240 with the BobCat CT335, Kioti DK35, and John Deere 3320. Prices with front-end loader are all very similar.

Pros: HST with anti-stall, power, economy, comfortable operator's deck.
Cons: You have to shop hard and haggle with dealers to get a good price.

Review of 3240HSTC at 752 Hours
Model Year: 2008

I bought this tractor to mainly mow 10 acres with as well as till garden plots. I also had the tractor equipped with the 724 loader with a 66" round back heavy duty bucket and 1 hydraulic remote. So far reliability has been wonderful. I have only had to do routine maintenance. I have had no problems with any thing so far. The tractor handles a 6ft woods PDR7200 mower fairly well as long as your not mowing steep hills. The loader is very powerful and will lift the rear wheels if your not well counter weighted. I have used a 6ft bush hog and the tractor handles it well as long as you go slow. I also use a 6ft tiller with ease as well as a double 14 Dearborn plow. I also run a 3pt trencher, woods frame mount backhoe, 6ft rake, 6ft bladebox, 1650lb counter weight, and a thumb grapple for the front loader. The Cab is much improved over the 30 series (i.e better head clearance much quieter cab (85db on 30 series and 77db on 40 series). The cab offers a dust free environment with complete climate control. The a/c will freeze you out in the summer and the heater will melt you in the winter. I love the HST plus transmission this is the best transmission on the market bar none. You have so much control with dialing in the transmission. The paint has held up very well as well as the rest of the tractor. Overall I'm very pleased with the overall performance of this tractor. I considered a John Deere 20 series cab but did not like the smaller frame/tire size compared to the Kubota, plus the Kubota was priced better.

Pros: Nice cab, good power, and reliability is insanely good!
Cons: Wish It had a sun visor and a horn.
