2012 Kubota L3800HST - Great Tractor
Model Year: 2012
I bought a 2012 Kubota L3800 HST about three months ago. Bottom line up front: great tractor. The tractor does more than I had initially expected. I have ripped small trees (approx. 2” – 4”) out of the ground by their roots with the front end loader, dragged trees that were enormous and hauled mounds of dirt with ease. It also slings a 60” 500+ lbs. brush mower like it’s not even on the back. This is one tough tractor. I chose it over the equivalent John Deere mainly because it has a more solid construction. With this said, I have recently learned of this tractor’s limits. The recommended plow is a 2x12. I received a 2x14 for free so I decided to use it. I am in the process of plowing an approximately 8 acre field. The ground is hard and there is a major root system throughout. Yes, this Kubota is doing the job, but it is kicking its butt at the same time. The other day the plow caught a dead tree branch then lodged it into the inside rim of the rear wheel, ripping off the valve stem. This cost me almost $200.00—dumb mistake on my part—no fault of the tractor. I would highly recommend this tractor to anyone that wants a solid midsize powerhouse of a tractor. So far it has been exceptional. I would however, not recommend anyone buy a Kubota from the place I bought mine. The salesman talked me out of things I wanted, talked me into things I did not want, and promised me I could return an implement if after trying it I decided I did not like it. When I tried to return it he went back on his word and said no. But this is okay, because a buddy of mine was going to buy an L3200 from the same place but based on my recommendation he went somewhere else. And not to drag this on but I have since bought several other fairly expensive items to go with my tractor. I bought then from another Kubota dealer. I will not mention the dealership due to privacy issues but I recommend you get everything in writing if if you choose to buy a Kubota near Warrenton, Virginia.
Pros: Power, weight.
Cons: Untrustworthy dealer.
